School board members, administrators, teachers and students came together to celebrate a monumental year for Coakley Middle School on Dec. 18.

 

The 2012 - 2013 school year marks Coakley's 50th anniversary of servicing the students and community of Harlingen. To honor their years of service, the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District proclaimed that Dec. 18, 2012 would be named Coakley Middle School Day.

HHSS cheerleaders collect $16,592 to help make dreams come true

    

The cheerleaders at Harlingen High School South are helping wishes come true this holiday season by raising $16,592 for children in need.

 

The squads have partnered with the "Make a Wish" foundation.

Person of the Week: Paredez delivers the tools for success at HCISD

                

For Gill Paredez, the saying "It's always better to give, than to receive" can be applied to his actions on a daily basis. From his career to volunteer work, he puts the assistance of others as a priority.

 

Paredez is the Warehouse Supervisor for the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District.

The students at Harlingen High School joined together to show their support for the community of Newtown, Connecticut on Dec. 19.

Christmas Artwork

                
In the spirit of Christmas, the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District asked the elementary campuses to submit any artwork or crafts they have done. Throughout the holiday break, HCISD will showcase student artwork on its Valley Morning Star page and website. New artwork will be posted on the website everyday until Christmas.

Bowie Student Council decorate and donate for the troops


                  

The Student Council and Bowie Elementary School chose to give rather than receive when given the opportunity to support the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank.

 

The students entered a tree-decorating contest sponsored by LACKS Furniture Store, and took home the top prize.

Austin Student Council collects goods for Harlingen  

 

       

 

The Student Council at Austin Elementary School took the opportunity to spread Christmas cheer by helping those in need this holiday season.

 

Members joined forces with Austin staff and faculty to collect donations for the Family Crisis Center in Harlingen.

The Harlingen High School boy's choir used their voices to show students the power of music on Dec. 18.

In the spirit of the season, Jefferson Elementary Celebrated the holiday with a surprising visit from Santa. Kids lined up with a smile on their faces and waited to tell Santa what they wanted this this Christmas.
