Each morning, I have the wonderful pleasure of waking up and sitting in my living room. With a warm cup of coffee curled in my hand, I watch and wait as the twilight gently transitions into dawn. It's a miraculous time as I have a wonderful opportunity to watch through windows that expand from ceiling to floor, the sunlight dancing on the entirety of the flatirons and front range. Beginning with a dark landscape that has tiny twinkly lights, there is a moment that this becomes a moment not to miss. I know from experience if I stop, and look away I might miss it. The world is quiet and indeed I feel the promises of the day are awaiting discovery.
Within any given moment, I am given the opportunity to savor this moment which is guaranteed to change in a blink of an eye. Then in that fleeting moment, dawn erupts splashing light all over the horizon. The colors in the sky and on the mountains change colors depending on the presence of clouds, the location of the sun, and if there is any fog or snow in the mountains. It's a magical and quite wonderful space for me in my morning reflections.
This morning, I had the thought in many ways this is like Holy Week. We all know Easter will come. We know the smells of the Easter lilies, the shouts of Alleluias, and the choir singing with such passion, Christ the Lord is Risen Today. On those we can count on experiencing Sunday morning at the Easter service, and they are as reliable as the sun breaking forth in sunrise!
My invitation to you is to push pause before you get to Easter. To consider participating and experiencing Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil, these pre-dawn moments. To create an opportunity for yourself to experience the fullness of this same radical transition, these moments not to be missed for they each have a powerful place into the unfolding of Easter dawn!
I look forward to sharing such powerful transitions with you.
Blessings
