Dear Friends,

This Sunday, we will light the Advent Candle of Peace.

In this season as we wait and prepare our minds and hearts for the celebration of the birth of Jesus into our world, we may think of this babe grown and the years of the story. We may think of words we believe were spoken by this man in verses like John 14:27 - "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid."

I think all of this most certainly at dawn. In the liminal moments of light returning to a world in darkness, I hear again these words of peaceful assurance whispered and welcomed by a receptive, new sky.

In these profound, fleeting moments, the light seems to hold back all of the things the world can give - stresses, deadlines, mistakes, difficult relationships and issues - just long enough for us to breathe in the peace we were given beyond the world. In these moments of change and possibility, we can untrouble our hearts and bravely reframe the day ahead.

In the still beauty of the dawn, may we know God's peace. Amen.

Sandy

We are hoping that you will join us in using your smart phone or tablet to reflect on this Advent season. After reading this email, we'd love for people to snap a picture that expresses the candle themes of Advent; Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. Then post the photo to your Instagram and also to Montview's Facebook page with the hashtag #MontviewAdvent. This is an opportunity to slow down and reflect on our surroundings and to share our photos with each other. The picture below is Sandy Prouty's reflection on the Candle of Peace.
