Good afternoon!
Denver Presbytery was hosted at Montview last night and I was officially installed as the Moderator. As the details for the big night were looked over many times I was sensitively aware of the number of people who stepped up to support and help. The choir rehearsing special music, the staff covering registration details and needs, the assistance in the worship service, the volunteers in the kitchen preparing delicious meals, the person videotaping the service, the amazing publications, the hosts and hostesses offering their time, granted hosting presbytery is no small task. As much as yesterday was a fun and big day for me, I am noticing and celebrating you! As Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church, you have stepped up and showed up in full support.
I wondered into this day after the celebration. How do you celebrate? If someone appreciates you do you turn away? Defer to others help? Change the subject? There is an old idea that somehow now receiving or deflecting appreciation and celebration is being humble. I couldn't disagree more. Jesus' example to us of receiving appreciations and celebrations rings so true on the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. He received. He knew it was equally as important that they felt their offerings of appreciation were received as it was for him to receive them. Has someone reached out recently to appreciate you? And did it land, deeply in your being? The reception of a gift can be as loving as giving one? How are you celebrating and receiving celebration today?
Blessings Dee
