The Rev. Dr. Dee Cooper
Lead Pastor for Congregational Life
(Interim)
Hi Everyone,
I am thinking most of you are on the road traveling, or making preparations in your home, or perhaps grocery shopping in anticipation of the Big Turkey day! Or TorKEY as one of our children exclaimed on Sunday! When I reflect on what I am thankful for, my cornucopia overflows. My heart warms and expands with delight on the friends and family and gifts in my life. And I discovered this prayer today, reminding me of yet more ways and experiences we share in our thanks. I share with you.
A Thanksgiving Day prayer by 19th century theologian Walter Rauschenbusch.
O God, we thank you for this earth, our home; For the wide sky and the blessed sun, For the salt sea and the running water, For the everlasting hills And the never-resting winds, For trees and the common grass underfoot. We thank you for our senses By which we hear the songs of birds, And see the splendor of the summer fields, And taste of the autumn fruits, And rejoice in the feel of the snow, And smell the breath of the spring. Grant us a heart wide open to all this beauty; And save our souls from being so blind That we pass unseeing When even the common thornbush Is aflame with your glory, O God our creator, Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
Happy thanksgiving!
With profound gratitude for life and living full
Dee

Keeping Christmas
This year, instead of giving more things, give more meaning. Give a gift that can save lives, build communities, open doors of opportunity...change the world! This is the time. Give a gift of hope today! Millions around the world are facing daily struggles to access food, clean drinking water, and shelter. You can access the following websites to help alleviate burdens of our sisters and brothers with gifts of livestock, seeds, water filtration systems, school supplies, cleaning tools, or pots and pans. Pick one of the many ways to give. Or two. Or three. Your help is needed, and immeasurably appreciated.
www.presbyteriangifts.org www.cwsbestgifts.org www.heifer.org www.worldvisiongifts.org,
In an effort to provide a more spiritual aspect of gift giving please join the Montview youth as they host Montview's Christmas Mission Market on Sunday, December 1, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. This market features gifts from local Denver artists and organizations as well as artists and organizations from around the globe. Proceeds from the sale directly benefit women, children and families from our community and from the countries they represent.
This is the time. Give a gift of hope today. See you on Sunday, December 1 from 8:30am to 12:30pm!
Peace, Sheri
