Greetings!
Tilman Adair

Executive Director

Hello all,

Guided by Mary Oliver's question, "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?", this season at Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church we are reflecting on our 'Call' as individuals and as a church family. We are excited for the possibilities. As a congregation, we lean into each other as companions on this journey and discern what unique gifts we each possess, and how that insight helps us listen for our unique 'Call' in this life.

Instinctively, we know that we are "Called to Care". With this as our Stewardship theme, during the month of October we will hear how Montview Church inspires its members to care about:

* Our Congregation

* All of God's Children

* Our World

* Our Community

It's not really about the money. It's more about Trust and Gratitude. Trusting that "Every good and perfect gift is from above." (James 1:17). Trusting that God will provide all that is really needed for us and the strangers in our community and world. And living in gratitude with the "...God from whom all blessings flow." God is flowing blessings into each of our lives every minute of every day. As we step further into our faith journeys, we are better able to recognize these blessings, and we realize that these are gifts to us from God. At that point, we are challenged to decide how and where we are going to let those blessings flow.

The church's 2014 Operating Budget is a direct result of the pledges made by each of us together during this Stewardship Campaign. Your 2014 pledge will define how well we are able to respond to our "Call to Care" in our 'one wild and precious year' together.

May God's blessings continue to flow to - and through - you and your family.

Tilman

The Rev. Ian Gregory Cummins
Lead Pastor of Spiritual Life

Hello all,

First, a quick reminder that the Montiew Lectureship weekend is upon us. Rev. Doug Wysockey-Johnson, who preached here a few weeks ago will give a lecture this coming Friday and a workshop on Saturday on our 'call' theme. You can pay online by CLICKING HERE. Or pay with cash or check at the door. I highly recommend this event. It promises to be a rich and thoughtful time to reflect on your life. More info at our website: www.montview.org

Second, I ask you to hold Rev. Dee Cooper and our Montview community in prayer as Dee begins her new role as our Co-Pastor for the Interim Period this morning. This is a significant marker in the transition period we have been in since Cindy's departure at the end of June. Dee brings a warm, centered presence, a gentle wisdom and a great sense of humor that I think will be a wonderful fit here at Montview. Keep her in your heart and prayers this week and welcome her warmly this Sunday.

Grace and goodness,

Ian
