What (if anything) Does Revelation Reveal? Sundays, September 15, 22, 29 from 9:15 - 10:00 am
About the last book of the New Testament, Martin Luther famously wrote in his 1522 preface: "My spirit cannot accommodate itself to this book. For me this is reason enough not to think highly of it: Christ is neither taught nor known in it." Evangelical and fundamentalist Christians have esteemed the Book of Revelation highly; it holds the key to future. Mainline Protestants know the book hardly at all. Elaine Pagels, MacArthur ("genius") Award recipient and professor of religion at Princeton University thinks the book deserves a more informed readership. In this course we shall entertain how, in light of Pagels' historical analysis, we might be prepared to hear and interpret the scriptural text in new ways.
Facilitator: Dr. Gregory Robbins is chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Denver, director of the Anglican Studies Program at the Iliff School of Theology, and honorary canon theologian of Saint John's Episcopal Cathedral.

Celebrating Montview Authors
In 1912, Denver citizens voted to develop the Denver Mountain Parks and today many of these parks, such as Red Rocks, Summit Lake and Lookout Mountain, are the most-visited tourist sites in Colorado. Denver Mountain Parks: 100 Years of the Magnificent Dream, written to celebrate the mountain parks' centennial, presents the complete history of the mountain parks from their beginnings to the present day. The book, illustrated with historic photographs and maps, showcases 72 new John Fielder photographs and 26 Then-and-Now images pairs. Montview's own Erika Walker was one of three authors who worked with John Fielder to develop the book. The book is available at Tattered Cover, Amazon, and we hope to soon have a copy in the Montview Library.
