Dear Friends,

The next time you are at church, I hope you notice the beautiful sails covering the plaza area of our outdoor sanctuary. They are a generous memorial gift in honor and remembrance of Chip King, by his wife Suzy. They will, not only provide needed shade during the heat of summer, they soar to the sky, reminding us of Chip's beautiful, strong and soaring spirit. We are grateful for the gift and the chance to think of Chip often as we meet one another in that beautiful space.

We are also grateful for Collin Metscher for installing the sail poles as part of his Eagle Scout project.

I also want to ask you to think outside the box. What kind of congregational or fellowship time might we dream of in that space? If you'd like to work with a few others to plan an event where Montviewers can gather and fellowship - after church- or another time, let us know. It's a beautiful space, deserving of our gathering!

Blessings,
Cindy

Hello Everyone,

I've been thinking more about my experience on the Camino de Santiago in preparation for preaching this Sunday. One of the ubiquitous symbols of the Camino is the scallop shell. One legend has it that the Apostle James washed up on the NW corner of Spain covered in these shells common to the area. Since then, pilgrims wear one around their neck to signify that they are on pilgrimage. It makes me wonder what about you and I signifies to others that we are on a faith journey? What about us indicates to people that we are trying to follow the Way? Would it be your kindness? Your unwillingness to speak poorly of others? Your generosity?

If you can't think of anything...why not?

Grace and goodness,
Ian
