Winn Feline Foundation News

Winnie's Corner

Winnie
Meow....How do you like our new look? My human has spent many hours (with me watching intently from my computer perch) exploring new mobile newsletter designs. Us girls have to update our look regularly, right?

Is your fabulous feline friend ready for Happy Healthy Cat Month? Like most cats, happy for me means food, fun and frisky adventures, naps in the sun and plenty of attention from my human. Add a good brushing every so often and I'm happy, happy, happy. Healthy, on the other paw, means good nutrition, safe and secure surroundings
and an annual trip to visit my friendly cat doctor.
Of course I never want
to show too much happiness or I wouldn't be a real cat, would I?

Now if I could only catch that irritating red dot...

Oh my, I just heard my human schedule me a Rabies vaccination!

Memo to Cat Owners:

September 28 is World Rabies Day. Please talk to your veterinarian about a Rabies vaccination for your cat and keeping your cat away from wildlife that can spread the disease.

Every Cat, Every Day Benefits from Winn -Funded Research ~ September 2015
Ride for a Winn

Yes! It's happening!  Our president, Dr. Glenn Olah, has started a bike campaign fundraiser Winn Riders for Feline Health to help "benefit every cat, every day" through support of feline health research.

Multiple events will be organized and we are asking you to pledge your support for Glenn and his campaign.  The first event will be a bike ride over two days on October 29th through 30th from Taos, NM to Denver, CO.  The ride is ~ 330 miles long with ~ 12,000 feet ascent at an average elevation of 6000 feet. The ride will end at the Crowne Plaza Hotel - Denver International Airport.

Winn's New Program -
      Technician Honor Roll

Winn recently established the Technician Honor Roll as a complement to the Veterinary Honor Roll. If you have a special Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) you would like to recognize, you now have a way to express your appreciation.

For a donation of $100 or more, Winn will send a beautiful framed certificate and a letter to the technician naming the donor. In addition, their name will be listed on the Technician Honor Roll page on Winn's website.

Cat lovers and veterinarians can recognize a special technician today.

Double Your Donation to Winn

What do Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson all have in common? They are employers with a matching gift program for employees who give. Winn has made it easier for donors to check if their employer offers a matching gift program and also to apply for the program.

Your donation can have double the impact and you can check your eligibility at our Matching Gifts page. Or you will have the option to check your eligibility and apply at the end of the donation process.

Planned Giving Tip for September

Testamentary donations to the Winn Foundation may reduce State and Federal inheritance and estate taxes.  State death taxes may include estate taxes, inheritance taxes, a "pick-up tax" or a combination.  Estate taxes apply to the property in your taxable estate.  Inheritance taxes are focused on the person who inherits the property.  States with no estate or inheritance tax may have a "pick-up tax" that partially offsets what is paid in Federal Estate tax.  Regardless of the form of death tax, the Winn Foundation is a public charity and donations are deductible to the full extent of the law.
