Author Will Weaver grew up on a farm in northern Minnesota.  He graduated from the University of Minnesota and from Stanford University.  His debut novel, Red Earth, White Earth, was published in 1986 by Simon & Schuster, and was produced as a CBS television movie.  A Gravestone Made of Wheat & Other Stories  (Simon & Schuster 1989) won the Minnesota Book Award for Fiction.  The New York Times Book Review called it "...a graceful collection, one that views America's heartland with a candid but charitable eye."

His adult short story "A Gravestone Made of Wheat" was adapted as the independent feature film Sweet Land, starring Ned Beatty.  Sweet Land premiered in theaters across the United States in October 2006. "A triumph...a movie of extraordinary tenderness" (Entertainment Weekly, 10/18/06). In February, 2007, Sweet Land won the independent film industry's Spirit Award for Best First Feature, and is now out on DVD. Find out more at www.willweaverbooks.com.

Mr. Weaver will give an hour-long presentation on his books, the art of writing, and his movie Sweet Land.  Mr.Weaver is available to sign books immediately after his presentation.  A limited number of novels will be provided for purchase.

This event is free to the public.
