New Interim Director

NWRL

Greetings!

My name is Bob Boese. I've been hired by the NWRL Board as Interim Director until a permanent director is hired (hopefully soon). I'm a semi-retired librarian who has worked for Minnesota regional library systems most of my career. I served as director of the East Central Regional Library (with headquarters in Cambridge) for 21 years and retired from that position in 2007. Since that time I have been developing my rare book business (Cambridge Books). I also served as the interim director of the Marshall-Lyon County Library in Marshall, Minnesota for nine months in 2009-2010. I have other obligations too, including meeting two grandchildren at the bus stop after school on Wednesdays. My family is librarian intensive: my wife is the librarian at Cambridge Community College and one of my daughters is the teen librarian at the Maplewood Branch of Ramsey County Library.

I will be commuting from my home in Cambridge and coming to Thief River Falls on a semi-regular basis. My agreement with the NWRL Board has me here only a few days each month, but I will be available at any time by phone and email. NWRL staff will continue to assist with some of the day to day functions, but I will be assisting the Board with the search for a Director and working with the Board on policies and official reports. I am going to attempt to visit each of the branches during my time here, starting with Greenbush and Roseau next Wednesday (and Warroad if there's time).

I've just glanced at the applications for the Director's position and there appear to be some good prospects there.   The Board's search committee and I will begin work on those in the near future.

Northwest Regional Library is a great organization and I'm pleased to be associated with it, even if it's for just a short period of time.

Bob Boese, Interim Director
