Join EmpowerU Managing Board Member Dan Regenold in a follow up class to last semester's lively discussion on Is the U.S. the next Greece. Dan looks at the great Economist and Noble Laureate Milton Friedman, perhaps the first libertarian. Friedman's approach to economic policy in the face of different views caused a revolution when he published Capitalism and Freedom in 1962 (sold over 500,000 copies). Friedman's simple thesis: There cannot be political freedom without economic freedom.
Many of Friedman's ideas are still on the public wish list. The flat tax, the floating exchange rate, school voucher programs, free trade. Friedman's influence extends far beyond his original book and the class will also venture Friedman's other popular treatise Free to Choose. Free to Choose is based on themes of human freedom, economic freedom and equity and what happens in an economy when these concepts are ignored.
Join Dan as he discusses Friedman's work and puts it into simple context. Enjoy the incredible video content with much of the class in Friedman's own words. This is a hands on class--be ready to work as EmpowerU analyzes the economics of Milton Friedman and if it is still relevant today.
