Governor Kasich has proposed a budget for the next two years to fund the many functions of Ohio's government and public services. This budget suggests controversial changes in how the state raises revenue. Join state legislators Lou Terhar, John Becker and Jonathan Dever as they discuss several ideas floated by the Governor including a 1/2 percent increase in the state sales tax, higher taxes on oil and gas extraction in Ohio and the best way to prepare for Ohio's long term obligation to Medicaid including a way to pay for the 450,000 adults added to the Medicaid roles last year.
The Governor also proposed changes in funding formulas for Ohio's schools. Princeton School Board member Steve Moore will discuss the financial effect this will have on Ohio districts and highlight the region's winners and losers.
The legislators and Mr. Moore will offer wide ranging opinions on the budget as well as offering possible changes that would protect the taxpayers, while still growing Ohio's economy and providing equitable state funding for the public schools.
