Empower U and Cincinnati Bell partner to bring this presentation to people who wish to be informed on this most vital subject. This class will give you facts and anecdotes focused on three common technology issues confronting young people:
sexting, online privacy and cyber bullying.
Mr. Smith will teach why we need to be careful about what we share on social media, that nothing is every truly deleted and content is not always guaranteed to be private and can be shared without our knowledge. He will discuss how college admission offices look a social media when deciding whether or not to admit students.
He will educate parents and their children about the latest social media sites that are popular, digital literacy, using technology responsibly , laws associated with misuse of techonolgy and more. We encourage grade and middle school parents and their children to attend this class.
The Digital Citizenship Night is also a Virtual Class. Join us in person at the class, or online. The codes for participating in this class online from your home will be posted on our website 6 hours prior to the start of the class.
Speaker Bio
Stephen Smith is the Director of Educational Leadership at Cincinnati Bell. He has a wide range of education experience. He recieved his MEd from Xavier Univeristy, his BFA from the University of Cincinnati, DAAP Porgram. He earned an Executive Certification in Management & Leadership from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master Certificatation in Advanced Internet Marketing and Measurement from University of San Francisco.
He has 14 years of experience in the information technology industry and around 20 years of experience in the film, video, and interactive media industries.
He is a former high school teacher and coach.
