Learn more about the news process and how to make your voice heard, especially on the opinion pages via letters to the editor and op-eds. We'll talk about how to decide what topics to write about, how to make a submission, how to write for a news audience and how to work with journalists effectively.
Speaker Bio
Julie Zimmerman is an editorial writer with The Cincinnati Enquirer/Enquirer Media. She writes about urban planning, public transportation, Northern Kentucky, local and state finances and the environment. She holds a BA in English and writing from Northwestern University and an MS in social sciences/Middle Eastern studies from the University of Chicago. She worked as a reporter for the Enquirer in the late 1990s and later at PlanetFeedback.com, St. Anthony Messenger Press and Cincinnati Magazine before returning to the Enquirer last year. She lives in North Avondale with her husband and two children and enjoys interclub tennis and cycling.
