Launched in 2009, Bitcoin is a rapidly evolving open source technology that is revolutionizing the world as we know it. Bitcoin is a digital, global, secure, decentralized payment network and a new kind of money designed for the internet and the 21st century. No single entity controls Bitcoin, and in order for any changes to the Bitcoin protocol (rules), a consensus among users must be reached in order for the changes to take effect. Bitcoin will make the central banks, cash, and credit cards of the world obsolete. The purchasing power of Bitcoin is dictated by the free market, and not central bankers aimlessly printing money in secrecy. Bitcoin has the potential to be as public or private as the user chooses. Bitcoin cannot be stopped or censored unless the entire internet is shut down. Come learn about what Bitcoin is, how it works, and how you can use it in commerce as both a consumer and business owner. A lecture will be given along with time for individual questions with members of the Cincinnati Bitcoin Initiative.

Andy Schroder holds a bachelors and masters degree in mechanical engineering and has professional experience in the manufacturing, aerospace engineering, and software development industries. Frustrated with the erosion of the free market economic and financial system our country was founded upon, he placed his doctoral studies of thermodynamics on hold in the summer of 2013 to focus on Bitcoin, developing the Bitcoin Fluid Dispenser, the worlds first control system and payment system that accepts Bitcoin for dispensing fuels and other fluids. He is currently working to refine this device for use in retail fuel stations. Andy is also a co-founder of the Cincinnati Bitcoin Initiative, a collective of individuals interested in promoting, educating, learning, and adopting bitcoin in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Jerry Felix holds a Bachelor's Degree in Systems Analysis and a Masters Degree in Business Administration, Management, and has served in technical and managerial positions during his sixteen year career at Hewlett-Packard Company.  Jerry has personally consulted for, and managed technical staff who have consulted for, some of the largest US-based companies, including Walmart, General Motors, GE, Intel, and Procter & Gamble.  In 1996, Jerry co-founded Electronic Commerce Link, Inc. (EC Link), a Cincinnati-based software and IT Management company.  For over seventeen years, EC Link has provided solutions to hundreds of organizations in over thirty states, operating in various industries, including banking and financial, local governments, and healthcare.
With a specialty in security consulting for HP, and a great deal of knowledge about cryptographic algorithms, Jerry began his interest in crypto-currencies in the mid-nineties, and got actively involved with Bitcoin in 2011.  One of his early contributions and experiments with Bitcoin was a simple online e-commerce application that accepted only Bitcoin, which was developed for a client who paid in Bitcoin in 2011.
