Project Warm Your Heart
The Sunday school and confirmation class are participating in Project Warm Your Heart to collect new or gently-used winter clothing for kids in Somerset County.  Children of families served by the Food Bank Network of Somerset County and other organizations will benefit from this winter-clothing drive.  We are collecting coats, mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats for children. Donations are requested by Monday, October 26, 2015.  There will be a box for donations in the chapel each Sunday morning, or donations can be dropped off in the church office during weekdays.

Come and hear how eight youth survived on two potatoes, a half a head of cabbage, an onion, some beans and oatmeal for a day.  Join us after worship on Sunday, October 18th at 11:15 am,  for a presentation on our youth trip to Heifer Farm.
All Saints' Day Dedications

During the Sunday service on November 1st, we will remember in prayer the names of those who have been buried from St. John on the Mountain during the past year.  In addition to reading the list of names of those who died this year, we invite you to share with us the names of those you have loved and lost.  Please send us those names, and we will remember them before God when we celebrate the Feast of All Saints.  Click here for dedication form.  Please return your dedication to the office by Friday, October 23rd.
November 1st Baptism at St. John on the Mountain
We baptize primarily on those dates set aside for baptism, as listed in the Book of Common Prayer.  Since the presence of the community of faith is essential for welcoming the newly baptized into the church, baptisms take place in the principal service on the appointed Sunday. The next day for Baptism is Sunday, November 1st at 10 am.  Questions about baptism?  Please contact Mo. Susan.
Piano Needed for the Sanctuary
St. John's is looking for a baby grand or grand piano for the church Sanctuary.  Although we have a beautiful Mason Hamlin Grand Piano which serves the Choir Room and Parish Hall very well for concerts and rehearsals, it is not accessible for use in the church accept from the hallway.  Do you a beautiful piano at home which you rarely use?  Would you be interested in donating it to St. John on the Mountain?  Maybe you are not quite ready to donate it - would you be interested in moving it to St. John's on an indefinite loan?  Numerous groups, other than our own choir, perform regularly in our beautiful church.  Many times, certain music requires a piano rather than an organ for appropriate accompaniment.  At the moment, we cannot accommodate this music.  We are looking particularly for a baby grand or a grand piano, no uprights.  While uprights make excellent practice instruments, they are often difficult to see over in a performance or accompanying situation.  Imagine walking into St. John's on Sunday morning or for a concert performance and hearing your piano played regularly by professional musicians.  Please carefully consider contributing to the music at St. John's with a wonderful gift such as this.
Annual Fall Concert by St. John's Festival Choir
The Choir hopes you will join them on Saturday evening, November 7th at 7:00 PM for their annual fall Concert.  This year, our Director Richard Morgan will be joined by Organist Joshua Stafford, St. Peter's Church, Morristown and soloists Debbie Smith and Joanne Dadd in a concert especially suited for the season - We Praise Thee!  The concert will include Franz Josef Haydn's exciting Te Deum in C Major, written for Marie Thérèse (daughter of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette), Hear My Prayer by Felix Mendelssohn, and Gabriel Fauré's lush setting of the Mass for women's voices Messe Basse.  Remember to invite your family and friends!  The Concert is only an hour and will be ending about 8:00 PM - plenty of time to take your friends and family out for a celebratory dinner at your favorite local restaurant!
Girls are Invited to Join the St. John's Choir for a Portion of the November 7th Concert
The women of The Choir of St. John's would like to invite girls in grades 8-12 to join them in singing the beautiful "Messe Basse" by Gabriel Fauré  at their November 7th concert.  The "Messe Basse" is a lovely setting of the mass for female voices only.  This portion of the concert is about 10 minutes long and will be rehearsed on Sundays after church.  The first rehearsal will be September 20th and will be about thirty minutes long.  We would love to have you join us!
