St. John on the Mountain
Upcoming Events

8 am Service to be Held in Parish Hall

This Sunday, June 14th

We have bats in the belfry (aka chapel).  They are going to be gently and lovingly relocated next week.  Until then, we are leaving them alone in the chapel for solitude and prayer as they contemplate their new calling outside of the chapel, because we're givers like that. Therefore, the 8 am Eucharist will be celebrated in the Parish Hall and the Communion Class will meet in the church.

Communion Instruction

This Sunday, June 14th

All the baptized are always welcome to receive the Holy Food and Drink, including infants! But many children want to learn more about the Sacrament.  This Sunday, June 14 from 9:00-9:30 AM, Mother Susan will meet in the Church with any child (2nd grade-6th grade) who wants to learn more about Holy Communion. All children are welcome, whether they have received Holy Communion before and wish to learn more about it, or if they have yet to receive Holy Communion. Please email Lynn Mitchell to reserve a spot for your child.

Last Day of Sunday School with

Teacher/Leader and Student Recognition

This Sunday, June 14th

This Sunday, June 14th following the 10 am service, all children will have the opportunity to receive a collectable pin to commemorate completing another year of Sunday School. Also, the teachers and leaders will be acknowledged for all that they do to make St. John's such a wonderful place for kids!

"We did it!"

The four qualifying rides are successfully completed.  Thank you for the overwhelming support you have given me since I started this journey in mid-April.  I can now call myself a "Super Randonneur" having finished these four rides.  I call all of you "Super Humans" for helping give me that certain, er, "je ne sais quoi," a real boost of confidence, but also for the financial support we are together giving St. John through this effort. If you have not already paid your sponsorship pledge, now is the time.

I am now registering for Paris-Brest-Paris, which will take place August 17-20, where I will attempt to ride 1,200 kilometers in 84 hours.  We are going to open a second opportunity in the next few weeks to benefit St. John on the Mountain with this next effort in France, but for now I want simply to savor with you having met this first goal of qualifying.

Summer Sunday Service Schedule Begins Sunday, June 28th

The Summer Sunday Service Schedule Begins Sunday, June 28th.  We will offer one service - 9:30 am Holy Eucharist, Rite II with music in the Parish Hall and childcare, followed by Lemonade Hour.

Lemonade Hour

Beginning Sunday, June 28th there will be a Lemonade Hour, immediately following the 9:30 am service.  Hosts are needed.  It's easy; all you need to bring is a small treat as the lemonade is provided by the church.  A sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board outside of Parish Hall.  Weather permitting, Lemonade Hour will take place outside in the front courtyard.

Tend the Garden

Stop by to tidy up the Memorial Garden and surround.  Giving a little of your time by sweeping, weeding, and such will help to keep this lovely area at its best.

Summer Baptism

Sunday, July 12th

We will be celebrating Baptism on Sunday, July 12th at 9:30 am.  Questions about baptism? Please email the office or call 908-766-2282.  After that, the next opportunity (and last date in 2015) for Baptism will be on Sunday, November 1st at 10 am during the All Saints' Sunday service.   Questions about Baptism?  Email Mother Susan.
