Intergenerational Choir Rehearsal

Sunday, December 14th and 21st

St. John's Intergenerational Choir invites you to join in the music making this Christmas. Once again, all ages are welcome!  Parents, children, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and all members of the Parish are invited to sing together for the Offertory Anthem during the Pageant on December 21st at 10 am and again at the 5 pm Christmas Eve Service on December 24th.  Please arrive a half hour before each service for a brief warm up in the Choir Room.  No vestments needed - street clothes and children in Pageant Costumes will be great.  All singers will be invited forward during the Peace to assemble and sing the anthem.  Meet in the Choir Room for about 20 minutes with Mr. Morgan to rehearse the anthem.  Copies will be provided at this time.  This is a wonderful way to join your family and friends and again welcome the Christ Child in song!

Kids Helping Kids - Update

Thank you so much to all of our generous families!  The Kids Helping Kids mission has raised almost $3,000 and is on it's way to providing Christmas to over 40 children.  Here is another story of the kind of child who benefits from the generosity at Somerset House:

Patrick's Story...

Patrick is a learning disabled 19 year-old and since the death of his adoptive parents, he had been couch surfing and living with friends. Street Smart workers went to the school and met with Patrick and his counselor to discuss housing options. Street Smart helped Patrick obtain his vital documents and made sure he had contact information for Street Smart if he ever needed help. Patrick had a fight with his friends that resulted in them kicking him out of the apartment at 11:00pm. After roaming the streets and unsuccessfully searching for housing, Patrick decided to call Street Smart from a phone at the local QuickChek. When outreach workers picked him up, he was sitting outside on the curb. The workers bought him something to eat and were able to place him at an age-appropriate shelter. Patrick will remain at the shelter while Street Smart continues to help him with permanent, long-term housing.
