Healing Service with Holy Eucharist Today  

Thursday, October 30th

The Holy Eucharist with Prayers for Healing will take place today at noon in the chapel. This simple service of prayer, Holy Communion, and the laying on of hands for those who desire it, is an extension of the ministry of the Pastoral Care Committee.  All are welcome.

Funeral for Fritz Lark    

Saturday, November 1st

The funeral for Fritz Lark will be held this Saturday, November 1st at 11 am in the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the St. John on the Mountain Outreach Fund.

Grace Soup Kitchen     

Friday, October 31st

Grace Soup Kitchen serves 1,000 hot nutritious meals the last five days of each month to the hungry of Plainfield.  St. John on the Mountain parishioners help prepare and serve lunch on the last Friday of each month.  Join us this Friday, October 31st from 10 am - 1 pm at 600 Cleveland Avenue, Plainfield.  Sign-up sheets are on bulletin board outside kitchen or contact Graham Argent Belcher.

Saturday, November 1st

The Festival Choir of St. John on the Mountain Presents 

An evening in Vienna: Music, Art and Life


 
Join us this Saturday, November 1st beginning at 7:00 pm with a pre-concert lecture and concert beginning at 7:30 pm.  The concert features Schubert's Mass in G and the music of Mozart, Haydn and Bruckner.  Bronagh Coakley is the Director of Lower School Music at The Peck School in Morristown.  She has spent the last few summers studying music, art and life in Vienna, Eisenach, Leipzig, Potsdam, Dresden and Berlin on National Endowment for the Humanities Grant Program. Her presentation will include photography and a lively dialogue.  A reception of Viennese delights will follow, including the famous Sachertorte, Crescent Cookies, dessert wines and Viennese coffee.  The Mountain Art Show will be open for your viewing and purchasing pleasure.  Richard Morgan, Director; Brian Harlow, Organist; Bronagh Coakley, Lecturer.

Mountain Art Show Silent Auction   


Make a bid for your own commissioned work of art by our featured artist Craig Johnston. Craig Johnston, a parishioner here at St. John on the Mountain, is an accomplished painter of fine and decorative art. Be sure to visit our gallery with a sampling of Mr. Johnston's work.

November Food Bank Staffing    

Saturdays

St. John parishioners will staff the Food Bank Pantry each Saturday in November from 9:45 am to noon. Located at the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street in Somerville.  All are invited, including older children, to help interview clients, bag and distribute food.  Sign-up sheets are located on the bulletin board near the Parish Hall kitchen.  For more information contact Sally Hespe.

Thanksgiving & Christmas Adopt-a-Family

 

Help save a struggling family's Thanksgiving and Christmas by providing an uncooked meal.  It's easy!  Just buy the makings for a meal, and deliver it uncooked to your Adopt-a-Family.  A sign-up sheet will is posted on the bulletin board near Parish Hall, as soon as the Mountain Art Show is finished.  Please call Sue Kennedy at 908-234-0267 with any questions.  If you have a particular family you have been supporting in the past, please let Sue know so that she can inform the Food Bank.

Mountain Art Show Meeting   
Sunday, November 9th

The Mountain Art Show Committee invites you to join us for a debriefing of this year's show in the Meeting Room of the Parish House.  We will be talking about the pros and cons of 2014 and the future of the show.  Please come with questions, concerns and new ideas!  All are welcome to attend.

Project Warm Your Heart    

The Sunday School is participating in Project Warm Your Heart to collect winter clothing for kids in Somerset County.  Children of families served by the Food Bank Network of Somerset County and other organizations will benefit from this winter-clothing drive.  We are collecting coats, mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats for children. Donations are requested by Monday, November 17, 2014.  There will be a box for donations in the chapel each Sunday morning, or donations can be dropped off in the church office during weekdays.
