Please join us after the 10 am service when the Choir hosts a special coffee hour to honor Tom Murphy, a life long choir member, primarily of St. John on the Mountain. Tom has been singing regularly in church choirs since the age of five! Please help us celebrate and honor his many years of service to our choir and the church of St. John on the Mountain.

The Festival Choir of St. John on the Mountain Presents
"An evening in Vienna: Music, Art and Life"
Join us Saturday evening, November 1st beginning at 7:00 pm with a pre-concert lecture and concert beginning at 7:30 pm. The concert features Schubert's Mass in G and the music of Mozart, Haydn and Bruckner. Bronagh Coakley is the Director of Lower School Music at The Peck School in Morristown. She has spent the last few summers studying music, art and life in Vienna, Eisenach, Leipzig, Potsdam, Dresden and Berlin on National Endowment for the Humanities Grant Program. Her presentation will include photography and a lively dialogue. A reception of Viennese delights will follow, including the famous Sachertorte, Crescent Cookies, dessert wines and Viennese coffee. The Mountain Art Show will be open for your viewing and purchasing pleasure. Richard Morgan, Director; Brian Harlow, Organist; Bronagh Coakley, Lecturer.

Baptism

Sunday, November 2nd
We baptize primarily on those dates set aside for baptism, as listed in the Book of Common Prayer. Since the presence of the community of faith is essential for welcoming the newly baptized into the church, baptisms take place in the principal service on the appointed Sunday. The next day for Baptism is Sunday, November 2nd at 10 am. Questions about baptism? Please contact Mo. Susan.

Urgent Need for Cans of Soup

Curbing Hunger has an urgent need for cans soup for the Somerset County Food Bank. For the first time in the history of the Food Bank, the soup bin is empty. Please place donations in the bins in the hallway or you can donate online.

Help Fill Backpacks
|
|
Help the Food Bank Network of Somerset County fill backpacks, for disadvantaged students, with healthy snacks to be taken home by students who depend on school meal programs during the week and do not have enough to eat on the weekends. Please consider donating some of the following items: fruit cups, raisins, oatmeal packets, granola bars, Ramen noodles, juice boxes, Chef Boyardee, individual serving-size boxes of cereal, Easy Mac & Cheese. Please drop off contributions in baskets located in hallway.

Men's Bible Study with Father Malloy

Join Father Malloy on Wednesdays at 8:15 am in the Parish House Meeting Room. We will spend four weeks looking at the process by which the first editions of the BCP emerged, the theological assumptions upon which it was built, and how the Church's theology and the Prayer Book have evolved (and continue to evolve) together.
