2014 Curbing Hunger Food Drive Campaign to support the Food Bank Network of Somerset County

Once again, we have been challenged to a friendly competition by some of our neighboring parishes to see who can raise the most food to assist hungry people in our area.  You may recall that last year, we won!  Between the three parishes that participated in the Hunger Challenge, 6,825 pounds of food was purchased, 2,667 pounds by members of our community.  This amount was over 10% of the entire Curbing Hunger goal for 2013. The Food Bank relies heavily on our donations to keep their shelves stocked.  The goal is to get more than 50,000 pounds of food supplies donated.  It is a competition where there are no losers.  Everyone wins, especially our neighbors who are hungry!  To participate in the challenge, you can donate money through the parish office or donate directly through www.yougivegoods.com.

A Short Stack of Flapjacks for a Tall Cause

St. Luke's Gladstone is serving a hearty breakfast at Applebee's at 640 Promenade Blvd., in Bridgewater, on Saturday June 14, seatings from 8AM until 9:30AM.  For $12 you receive pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and a beverage served by some of the 19 members of the St. Luke's mission team going to Guatemala with "From Houses to Homes" this August.   This fundraiser breakfast supports the mission trip as St. Luke's team will be building three concrete/cinderblock homes for villagers who live in cornstalk shacks in the poorest of conditions.   Tickets need to be purchased in advance by calling St. Luke's parish office at 908-234-0002.  Thanks for considering supporting this outreach to the needy in our world.
