The Third Sunday of Lent

Celtic Fortnight

What do Rich, Delicate, Light and Smoky have in common?

They all describe the various tastes of Single Malt Scotch.  If you'd like to learn more - and taste the differences yourself - come to the Celtic Fortnight Scotch Tasting tonight, Friday, March 1 from 6:30-8:30 pm.   Enjoy flavorful Celtic foods and relax with great friendsl.  $25 per person.

AND if you like singing don't forget the St. David's Day celebration after church on Sunday with the Welsh Society.   There will be Celtic crafts,  food, music and dancing.  Sunday also marks the end of the Celtic Fortnight and last chance to see Dan Thomas's "Journey Through Britain" art exhibit.  Click here to learn more.

Tuesday Evening Prayer and Pot-Luck Suppers:  Praying in Lent

On Tuesdays evenings at 6:00 pm, the community will gather for Evening Prayer in the Chapel, followed by a simple pot-luck supper. Members of our community will preside at this simple service of prayer. Bring a dish to share for supper, and come and allow the word of God to wash over you, and pray with the assembled community, as our ancestors did before us.  Join us March 5th, 12th, 19th.

Volunteers Needed for St. Mark's in Keansburg, NJ on Tuesday, March 5th

Once again we will be helping our brothers and sister in the Keansburg, NJ area who are still suffering the impact of Hurricane Sandy.   We will be serving a hot lunch to approximately 90 individuals in need on Tuesday, March, 5th, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Keansburg.  We need volunteers to cook the meal prior and also volunteers to travel to Keansburg and reheat and serve the meal.   Lunch hours are 12 pm - 2 pm.  We will meet at SJOTM to carpool at approximately 10 am.  Sign-up sheets will be posted outside the kitchen.   If you have any questions, please contact Hilary Dorer hilarity@optimum.net or Sally Hespe sallyhespe@aol.com.

Men's Luncheon this Thursday, March 7th

Please join us on the first Thursday of each month at 12:15 pm at the Morristown Club at 27 Elm Street in Morristown.  The luncheons are open to members of the parish and their guests.  For more information please contact Alan Enos at 908-234-1321 or aenos4@verizon.net.

Ushers Needed

Please consider joining this important ministry.  Greeting people, distributing bulletins, conveying the sacred elements to the altar, and inviting parishioners to partake of Communion are central to our worship services.  No experience needed.  To sign-up or for more information contact Fenn Putman 973-543-7017 or email fennironia@earthlink.net.

Handbell Choir - Ringers Needed

Do you love music but consider yourself more of an instrumentalist than a singer?  The Hand Bell Choir of St. John on the Mountain has several openings for ringers.  No prior experience with hand bells is required but reading music is necessary, especially being able to count those naughty half notes, quarter notes and eighth notes!  If you are interested in trying it, please contact  Rick Morgan, Director of Music for more information.

2013 Stewardship

As of Thursday, February 28th, we have 110 pledges totaling $335,457 for the 2013 EMC campaign, which includes a few new members. But we still have a ways to go to surpass last year (115 pledges for $355,622) and achieve this year's goal of $370,000 in pledges.

Extra pledge cards can be found in the narthex or click here to download or email the office to have one sent to you.

Don't forget that you can donate your Stocks to SJOTM. The tax advantages of giving stock, instead of cash, to church can make doing so very worthwhile.  To learn more, please contact Lisa Keenan in the office at 908-766-2282 ext 13 or by email at L.Keenan@SJOTM.org.  We would be happy to accept stock donations for 2013 as form of  pledge payment.
