The Second Sunday of Lent

We Welcome Father Patrick Malloy

Celtic Fortnight

Ruck or Maul?  Which is which?

Come to see Six Nations Rugby and learn what these terms mean and how the game is played.  See a fast-moving, running game with no pads, no time-outs, no Gatorade and no commercials.  Time to search your closet for an old rugby shirt - Red for Wales; Blue for Italy; White for England; Blue/Red for France.  Feast on English Breakfast complete with Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Black Pudding and Beans!

Saturday, February 23 - 9:30 a.m. Wales v. Italy

                                   12:00 noon England v. France

And don't forget other upcoming Celtic Fortnight events

  • Friday, March 1 - Scotch Tasting
  • Sunday, March 3 - St. David's Day Luncheon and crafters

Tuesday Evening Prayer and Pot-Luck Suppers:  Praying in Lent

On Tuesdays evenings at 6:00 pm, the community will gather for Evening Prayer in the Chapel, followed by a simple pot-luck supper. Members of our community will preside at this simple service of prayer. Bring a dish to share for supper, and come and allow the word of God to wash over you, and pray with the assembled community, as our ancestors did before us.  Join us February 26th and March 5th, 12th, 19th.

Volunteers Needed for St. Mark's in Keansburg, NJ

Once again we will be helping our brothers and sister in the Keansburg, NJ area who are still suffering the impact of Hurricane Sandy.   We will be serving a hot lunch to approximately 90 individuals in need on Tuesday, March, 5th, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Keansburg.  We need volunteers to cook the meal prior and also volunteers to travel to Keansburg and reheat and serve the meal.   Lunch hours are 12 pm - 2 pm.  We will meet at SJOTM to carpool at approximately 10 am.  Sign-up sheets will be posted outside the kitchen.   If you have any questions, please contact Hilary Dorer hilarity@optimum.net or Sally Hespe sallyhespe@aol.com.

Ushers Needed

Please consider joining this important ministry.  Greeting people, distributing bulletins, conveying the sacred elements to the altar, and inviting parishioners to partake of Communion are central to our worship services.  No experience needed.  To sign-up or for more information contact Fenn Putman 973-543-7017 or email fennironia@earthlink.net.

Parmalat Milk Needed for the Food Bank

Please consider donating the number one item needed by the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.  Parmalat Milk is shelf-stable and allows its contents to remain un-refrigerated for months, making it ideal to store at the warehouse for later distribution.  A collection basket is located in the narthex.

2013 Stewardship

As of Thursday, February 21st, we have 110 pledges totaling $335,457 for the 2013 EMC campaign, which includes a few new members. But we still have a ways to go to surpass last year (115 pledges for $355,622) and achieve this year's goal of $370,000 in pledges.

Extra pledge cards can be found in the narthex or click here to download or email the office to have one sent to you.

Don't forget that you can donate your Stocks to SJOTM. The tax advantages of giving stock, instead of cash, to church can make doing so very worthwhile.  To learn more, please contact Lisa Keenan in the office at 908-766-2282 ext 13 or by email at L.Keenan@SJOTM.org.  We would be happy to accept stock donations for 2013 as form of  pledge payment.
