2013 Stewardship

By now you should have received your Stewardship letter for 2013.  If you haven't already done so, please return your 2013 Pledge Card, as the Vestry needs them to make their budget decisions for the upcoming year.  Click here to download of copy of the 2013 Stewardship Letter.

As of Wednesday, November 13th, we have 48 pledging units for a total of $151,726 for the 2013 Stewardship campaign.

Extra pledge cards can be found in the narthex or click here to download or email the office to have one sent to you.

Don't forget that you can donate your Stocks to SJOTM. The tax advantages of giving stock, instead of cash, to church can make doing so very worthwhile.  To learn more, please contact Lisa Keenan in the office at 908-766-2282 ext 13 or by email at L.Keenan@SJOTM.org.  We would be happy to accept stock donations for 2013 as form of  pledge payment.

November Food Bank Staffing

St. John parishioners will staff the Food Bank Pantry each Saturday in April from 9:45 am to noon. Located at the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street in Somerville.  All are invited, including older children, to help interview clients, bag and distribute food. Click here for driving directions.  Email Fenn Putman to let him know which Saturdays you can work.

Thanksgiving & Christmas Adopt-a-Family

Help save a struggling family's Thanksgiving and Christmas by providing an uncooked meal.  It's easy!  Just buy the makings for a meal, and deliver it uncooked to your Adopt-a-Family.  A sign-up sheet will be posted as soon as the Art Show is over.  Please call Sue Kennedy at 908-234-0267 with any questions.  If you have a particular family you have been supporting in the past, please let Sue know so that she can inform the Food Bank.

Advent Wreath Making on Sunday, December 2nd

All are welcome to make a wreath on Sunday, December 2nd in Parish Hall.  All materials will be supplied.  A $5 donation to help off-set the cost of supplies is greatly appreciated.  Children will make their wreaths at 10:00 (in lieu of Sunday School).  Adults are welcome to make theirs immediately following the 10:00am service.

Diocesan Nominating Committee

During this week following our national elections, the Diocesan Nominating Committee is still looking for a few good women and men who are willing to stand for election at our 229th Diocesan Convention, March 1-2nd 2013.  The new deadline for nominations is Monday, 27 November 2012.   With the announcement of Bishop Councell's retirement in 2013 and the election of our 12th Bishop, along with the need to recover and rebuild in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy, it is more vital than ever to keep the structures which define our Diocese fully staffed and functioning.  Click here for positions and descriptions.
