Chaplain Announces Retirement
After 26 years of service to Ferrum College, Rev. Wes Astin '74 has determined that it is the right time to retire. He has been an important part of our campus and community for many years, and we are grateful for his service, ministry, teaching, and commitment to the College. Students and community members have benefited from the mission trips he has led, the Praise Team and music he has shared with all of us, and the Baccalaureate, Lessons and Carols, and numerous services he has created. The United Methodist Women in particular have appreciated his active involvement with, and support of, their partnership with the College.
 | Ferrum College Chaplain Wes Astin to Retire | Wes' ministry at the College has included 12 years in Institutional Advancement serving as Alumni Director, Director of Church Relations, and Director of Development before he accepted the role as Chaplain. We wish him the best in the future and thank him for his many years of service and devotion to Ferrum College! As Wes says, "I have been contemplating this for the past several years, and the time is now right. I love Ferrum College and the beautiful people that work here. I look forward as an alum to continuing to see so many of you at alumni events. As my favorite country music singer, Dolly Parton, penned 'I will always love you.' Blessings!"
