Club Growth Encourages Exciting Membership Opportunities

Club growth continues,  with more members attending the Club, more often.  Members are staying later in the evening, taking advantage of enhanced programming.  As more members attend, more opportunities arise for both fun and educational programming!
One of the member's favorite activities is climbing the rock wall at River Heights.  Members learned in the program that they must use both arm and leg strength, as well as strategic thinking, to make it all the way to the top.
Fitness activities spark a great deal of interest with members, encouraging Club staff to offer more non-traditional physical fitness activities such as obstacle courses and outdoor activities that allow members to "invent a sport".  The fitness activities include both a physical element for movement as well as a nutrition aspect that allows members to learn about healthy lifestyles through nutrition education and opportunities to cook fun and healthy foods.
AnnMarie Foundation Grant Encourages Daily Reading
Grant funds from the AnnMarie Foundation allowed the Club to purchase over 200 books during the River Heights Book Fair, creating a larger reading selection for members. The book purchase also helped raise money for River Heights Elementary by earning additional Scholastic Dollars that can be used to earn free books for the River Heights Elementary School library.

During Project Learn each day, members have the opportunity to check out a book from the Club library.  Members are extremely excited to see the new books, some of which are the hottest trending books in youth literature today.

Thank you to the AnnMarie Foundation for helping create brighter futures for our community youth!
Thank You 2015 Spring Interns

A GREAT big thank you to the Club's 2015 Spring Interns! All of this semester's interns are students at the University of Wisconsin Stout. Each has expressed the desire to work with youth in the future, making their internship at the Club a great opportunity to gain useful experience.

Interns share a few points about what they like most about their experience at the Boys & Girls Club:

"I love interning at The Boys and Girls Club because of the caring staff and having the ability to work with the young inspiring minds and being the role model as I once was in their shoes."

"The thing I love most about Boys and Girls Club is the connections I make with the kids and the fun that we have together!"

"I like learning new things from the kids everyday and also sharing what I know with them."

It is the vision of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley to become an ongoing

community resource to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring

and responsible citizens.  With your help, it is possible!
