December 2014
 Programming Numbers on the Rise

We are excited to announce that we now have 50 members at the Boys & Girls Club in Menomonie.  The buzz about the Club is starting to travel amongst youth at River Heights and each day we are approached by parents and students with questions about the Club.  At 50 members, the Club is able to apply with the Boys & Girls Club of America as an extension site.  At 100 members, the Club will be able to apply as a Chartered Unit with the Boys & Girls Club of America!

The Club has been seeing almost 30 members on average per day.  The blast of warm weather has benefitted our programming, allowing us to spend more time outdoors.  Throughout our programming, we have had a strong focus on teamwork and making sure homework is complete!  Members are eager to take part in programming and assist with providing their opinions about what they are interested in, so we can keep them involved!

Menomonie Center to Expand Transportation

Transportation from other schools is expected to begin soon, offering opportunities for both Downsville Elementary Students and Oaklawn Elementary students to attend the Club afterschool.  After the membership from these two schools has been established, a plan will be put in place to offer transportation from other district schools as well.
Transportation from Oaklawn and Downsville Elementary Schools will only be provided on days when school is in session, as the Club calendar follows the school calendar.  When inclement weather strikes and River Heights is closed due to weather, the Club is also closed.

Boys & Girls Club Summer Program
The Boys & Girls Club will be offering a summer program, with more details to come soon.  Enrollment is limited and is expected to open in April of 2015.  If you are interested in enrolling a youth for our summer program, please contact our office at your convenience to be put on a summer contact list. The Club will offer after-summer-school programming during the four weeks of District summer school, and will offer full day programming for the remaining six weeks of Summer, right at River Heights Elementary School.

Thank You to the School District of the Menomonie Area
The Club is so very grateful to the School District of the Menomonie Area for making us feel so welcome.  The partnership with the District has been instrumental in the success of the Boys & Girls Club, offering a location that is perfect to serve youth at.  Thank you for the support and offering the Club a home! It has been a great collaboration, allowing Club staff the opportunity to work together with teachers to set our members up for success!
Thank You to the Friends and Family of the
John Brunstad Memorial Walk/Run!
Thank you to the Friends and Family of John Brunstad for selecting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley's Menomonie Center as the charity recipient for the 3rd Annual John Brunstad Memorial Walk/Run.  The proceeds of $1,390 from the event will directly benefit programming at the Boys & Girls Club!
Club Wish List
The Club would like to reach out to the community with a wish list of items, as we have had a lot of questions about immediate needs of the Club.  While we have a wonderful building and resources here at the school, there are items that we are searching for to further expand our programing.  If you have any questions about items, please do not hesitate to contact the Club directly.

It is the vision of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley to become an ongoing

community resource to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring

and responsible citizens.  With your help, it is possible!
