Happy New Year!

On behalf of the The Lake Ontario Offshore Racing Committee, I hope everyone had a great holiday and wish you all the best in 2014!

This year is going to be very exciting with some new events in celebration of the 25th Running of the Lake Ontario 300, 40 years of organized Single Handed Racing on Lake Ontario and the new LO600 - Lake Ontario 600 mile race!

This year, LYRA is offering single handed and double handed courses for the Freeman and Lady Freeman Cup Races.

Also this year, we have created a new look for all three races organized by LOOR
(Lake Ontario Offshore Racing) to reflect the forward thinking and advanced race management practices being employed by our committee. We think these changes represent the energy, excitement and professionalism of a quality program that continues to grow each year.

Should you or your company be interested in getting involved with offshore racing on Lake Ontario, please contact us about our various sponsorship programs, and the returns associated with sponsoring an Offshore Racing event.

Mark your calendars!

Sincerely,
Joe Doris

Our staff and volunteers will be ready to provide you with all the details for this upcoming year.

To celebrate our 25th running of the Lake Ontario 300, we will be having an early bird Mount Gay Silver Draw during this year's Toronto International Boat Show. For every 10 racers that fully register online during or prior to the boat show dates, we will be drawing a name for a bottle of Mount Gay rum at our first event.

If you need to pick up your LOSHRS mug or Division flags from last year, we will have them at the booth for pick up. If you can not make the show, please contact Monica Doedens at shoreline@loor.ca to arrange another pick up time.

Visit our website LOOR.CA

One website provides you with all the information you will require for all three race series. Visit our updated website and let us know what you think.

We have already refreshed it with the new Registration links for 2014, and will be populating it with more information, newsletters, releases etc., so make sure you and your friends register on our site for these updates.

25 years and still Sailing Strong

In 1990 there were 89 double handed yachts at the start line for the first running of the Lake Ontario 300. An exciting time that has lead to many exciting moments for hundreds of participants. Through out the year we will be providing articles that outline the highlights and the lessons learned throughout our last 24 years and will provide you with a great little booklet recounting the 25 year history of Lake Ontario 300 Challenge at our annual awards banquet.

If you are a participant from earlier years and have something you would like to contribute in terms of articles, pictures, or memorabilia please contact Brian Townsend, Marketing Director, Lake Ontario Offshore Racing - bdtownsend@rogers.com. We would love to share this information.

The First Lake Ontario 600 Challenge

"Double the Fun, Double the Challenge"

Have you ever wanted to sail the Newport to Bermuda Race, The Fastnet Race, or the Sydney to Hobart Race, but just didn't have the time, experience, or enough saltwater in your veins to quite get to the starting line????  Well, we may just have the answer for you, with a challenge almost as long, from the comfort of your own back yard!  Read on.....

While thinking about different ways to celebrate the 25th running of the Longest Annual Freshwater Race in the World, the Lake Ontario Offshore Racing committee came up with the idea which is as simple as it is challenging.  Why not a challenge which is, simply, twice as long, and twice as challenging, as the Lake Ontario 300?  Therefore, in collaboration with the 25th Annual Lake Ontario 300 Race, LOOR is pleased to announce the first running of the Lake Ontario 600 Offshore Challenge. Get all the details on our website
