Strong IRC fleet forming for this years LO300

With record attendance at the 2013 IRC Canadian Championship ably hosted by RCYC last month, and a very well run PCYC Open regatta event this past weekend, we are now on to the second in our three event 2013 IRC Offshore Series with the Lake Ontario 300 scheduled to start this Saturday morning. Look forward to regatta reports on all these events in the coming days.

For the upcoming LO300 another strong three division IRC fleet has formed for this edition of the 'longest annual freshwater race on the continent'. There are a number of new boats participating this year with two entries from Quebec in the form of Zoe II, a Beneteau First 40 and Suvenant, a J111. Both boats call the Quebec Yacht Club home. Also joining our fleet this year is the Farr 47 Husaria from the Polish Canadian Yacht Club. Our IRC big boat contingent seems to be experiencing steady growth.

Please note that, as per the Susan Hood, the LO300 will again allow an additional spinnaker aboard over the certificate limit and the IRC crew number and weight limit are waived by IRC Lake Ontario. This is consistent with what our owners requested at the winter AGM. For all course racing events the crew weight limit will continue to be on the honour system. This again was the unanimous desire of our membership from recent AGM meetings.

The best of luck to all those racing in the LO300.
