Spring is Here and The Count down is On! Join us for Spring Training

The snow is finally melting and boat yards everywhere are seeing their owners prepping their boats for the season to start.  Registrations are coming in from both sides of the lake for all offshore races, and we have put our order in with the sailing gods for fair winds!!

Dont forget to join us for our Offshore Racing Safety Seminars. Tomorrow nights seminar at Frenchman's Bay Yacht Club is sponsored by the Rigging Shop which will feature an offshore weather gear sailing fashion show. We look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,
Darren Gornall
Chair, Lake Ontario Offshore Racing Group
Attention LOSH Racers...

It's hard to believe looking out at all that snow but there are only 68 more days until Race 1 will be underway, starting at Port Credit Yacht Club. Circle June 2nd on your calendars.

Plans are well under way for our best season of racing yet. Registration numbers are on track with 68 yachts signed up already. Some of the usual suspects are absent but I am sure that they will be signing up soon.  You will have by now noticed the revamped and improved web site which contains all the information you need to register along with your all important fees. Once your information is entered it will make sign up for subsequent years really easy.

One item that may hold you back is a valid PHRF certificate. Now is a good time to get that renewal out of the way, especially if you have changed your sail inventory or you purchased a new yacht.

As the countdown continues I encourage you to share with your fellow yacht club members the wonderful racing memories from 2012 and let them know what they are missing.

New for 2013 are LOSHRS  T-shirts in BLUE. Each skipper and crew registered prior to the first race on June 2nd will receive of these coveted shirts which are available in all sizes at the Sunday morning skippers meeting.

Watch out for a LOSHRS newsletter in April. It's our way of keeping you up to date on upcoming events and articles on some of our own talented racers. You can also contact Joe Doris at  Setanta227@gmail.com  or Ian McAllister at Folichon34@rogers.com with specific questions.

Over the next few months check out our new website at loshrs.com. It will be loaded with all the content you will need for our series. There is a section for news and events, racing information and a list of the LOSHRS sponsors are on our sponsor page. Offshore Racing Safety Seminars

The Lake Ontario Offshore Racing (LOOR) committee is running a Safety Seminar for all sailors at a variety of different clubs on the lake. (See dates below).

This information session is recommended for anyone who wants to learn about some of the recent rule changes to safety on Lake Ontario. The seminar is moderated by Guy Perrin (Member of the Sail Canada Offshore Working Group & Editor of sail-world.com/Canada) and a team of experienced Lake Ontario offshore sailors who will inform you and answer questions on all aspects of sailing safety.

The seminar provides novice and experienced mariners with information and skills required to prepare for sailing offshore, boat preparation, and recommended safety equipment. We hope the variety of locations that one will be close to you and we will see you there.
