Can't field a team?

Please be aware that cancelling a game last minute is inconsiderate to all parties involved. There are referees, opposing teams and field rentals that are affected when a game is cancelled last minute.

7 Important Tips to Remember When Dealing With Referees

Although it is a basketball directed article it applies to soccer refs too. Let's keep our referees on the field! Be aware LISA has a zero tolerance policy towards abuse of officials and keep these 7 important tips in mind when dealing with a referee.

1. Understand That They're Human
Referees aren't perfect. Just like you and I aren't either.
They're not going to make the correct call 100% of the time. Just like you and I aren't going to make the correct coaching decision every single time.
Just because they make an incorrect call doesn't mean they need to 'get their eyes checked' or 'learn the rule book'.

2. You Both Have Different Angles On The Play
While you are both watching the same game, you will always have a different angle on the play from the referee.

3. Set An Example
Your role as a coach extends much further than merely winning games. Whether you like it or not, as a coach you are a role model to your players. They look up to you. If they see you being overly angry at the referees, you can bet they won't be far behind you.
Don't teach them bad habits. Teach them to stay under control and fight through it mentally when things aren't going their way.

Concussion Study:
UVIC are seeking youth soccer players between the ages of 13-25 who have experience with heading a soccer ball. In a safe and controlled environment, participants will complete running, heading, and catching exercises while wearing heart rate monitors.

If you are interested in learning more about and/or participating in this research opportunity, or know of someone who might be, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
There is still time to sign up!
Tell your friends there is still time to sign up and play soccer! Send them the boundary map to find their home club!
