The Importance of Coaches & Coaching
People were asked to rate the overall influence of a variety of groups on young people. Across all major demographic groups, coaches rank as the number one positive influence on youth today.
... Coaches who overvalue winning can create an environment in which unsportsmanlike behavior flourishes.
At their worst, coaches can push the psychological, emotional, and physical limits of their players to the point of harm, create a hostile and unfair environment, and turn young athletes away from sport forever.
... It was found that negative personal rapport was a significant predictor of all measured forms of sport anxiety. Martens found that when coaches superimpose their goals on children's participation, they can render a child's experience a negative one

Exercising Your Options: Tips for Student Athletes
You are an athlete. You look forward to working out, to pushing yourself, to competing against yourself and others. Perhaps you're a first-string quarterback, or a top gymnast or a star forward. Maybe you aren't a star, but you certainly give your competitors a run for their money. Or you may be happy to play just for the love of your sport.
Whatever your sport or skill level is, college offers you the opportunity to continue your participation and even to raise your skill to a higher level. From big-name varsity teams to campus intramural leagues, colleges have a variety of ways for student-athletes to hone their skills. To help you sort through the many options available to college-bound athletes, here are some things to consider when choosing a college.
You won a Trophy? Here's what you do!
After you pick up your trophy from the soccer office make sure that you get the trophy engraved prior to returning it a year later. Do not return the trophy to the soccer office if it is NOT engraved. Talk to your club as they will usually reimburse you for getting the trophy engraved.
Make sure to take lots of photos of your team with the trophy to document your success!
Congratulations on your win!!!
