Criminal Record Checks and Fingerprinting
Now is a great time to make sure that you have a current Criminal Record Check filed with your club.

If you aren't sure when your Criminal Record Check expires check with your club by contacting your club Risk Management Officer.

Most clubs are using the CRRP program which is run through the Provincial Ministry of Justice.  Your club Risk Management Officer can send you a link with a specific access code for your club and for most people, you can do it on-line and your completed CRC is forwarded directly to your club.  On occasion, you can be called in for fingerprinting.

  • More and more frequently it seems that volunteers going through the process of a 'vulnerable sector check' are being asked to provide fingerprints. This is most likely because an offender has a similar name or date of birth to you. Your prints are needed to be compared to the offender's fingerprints to confirm you are not that person.

Recently there have been some significant changes regarding Criminal Record Checks (CRCs).  READ MORE HERE

Sports Parenting in 10 Sentences

Most of us know we shouldn't ask, "did you win, did you score?" but sometimes we just aren't sure what to say.

This article was recently posted on JAG Gym Blog and it is great for helping soccer parents be the type of parents all coaches want to have on their team, so feel free to share it with your parents at the beginning of each season.

Sports Parenting in 10 Sentences
1 Hi.  Greet your child when they get in the car with "Hi" before
you ask about practice, the score of the game or homework.
2 Have fun.  In all likelihood you've heard this statistic: 70% of
kids quit sports before they turn 13 for the primary reason that they
     are not having fun.
Encourage and remind your kids to have fun.

3 Tell me more.  Before forming an opinion or dispensing

advice, ask for more information from your child.  This will force them

to tell more of the story and give you more information as to what is

     actually happening.

Good job. Keep working.  Doc Rivers, head coach of the Los

Angeles Clippers and parent of a NBA player suggests these four

words.  Rivers notes that as parents we are often tempted to say

more and analyze kids performances, but saying only this might

be what's best for the kid who simply needs support.

5 What's new in your world?  Ask your kids general questions

that are not about gymnastics.  Even if the reply is "nothing" it gives

you the opportunity to share something about your day.

I love to watch you play.  Best six words ever.

7 So what do you think about that?  You know your opinion,

so before you jump to tell your child what it is, ask what his/her

opinion is.  You are not only learning more about what your child

thinks but are also helping develop critical thinking skills.
