Physical Literacy

Developing Physical Literacy is on our minds as part of an upcoming pilot project that would encourage clubs to have the youngest children not playing outside during the winter months.  This would also enable families to be able to find time for other sports without falling behind in soccer.

If physical literacy interests you can read the full document on-line at: Sport Matters

Continued Research at Festivals

  TeckandActiveStart

Head Coach Andrew Latham continues to research our U8-U11 age categories for areas of improvement.

Last year he gathered data that showed the number of touches our players are getting on the ball is considerably lower than we would like.

This year we are interested in seeing how much and what type of physical activity these same kids are getting while playing in a game.

During the Mini-Festival, with Director Hackett's help, Andrew used accelerometres on both boys and girls teams with anywhere from 7 to 11 players on a roster playing in a 6 a side format.

Over the course of the next few months we will analyze this data and share it with you through our eNewsletter.  Our hope is that we can find the best set of rules and regulations to allow our children to get the most approriate level of physical activity and technical skills from games.
