February 20, 2013
welcome / bienvenidos

Welcome to all 1,598 newsletter subscribers!

We have a great issue for you today. It is jam-packed with photos and articles from most of our regular contributors and a few from our readers as well.

The new Jaltemba Equine Education Project (J.E.E.P.) in La Peita received some great exposure on Island Gals, a Vancouver Island, BC website, thanks to horse lovers and part-time Jaltemba Bay residents, Ron & Jauvana Simone Nicholls. In the article, Simone states that "When it comes to tragedy and caring, there are no borders. And when life presents you an opportunity, you take it."

This week kicks off with a trifecta of local events -- the Rotary Dinner & Dance, the Academy Awards Party and the Jaltemba Walk Against Cancer. To find out what else is happening, read through the information below and take a peek at our online Community Calendar

To help plan your upcoming trip or your day in the bay, don't forget to check the current weather conditions on the  Official Jaltemba Bay Weather Page

For the remainder of the season, we will publish our newsletter every other week. Keep an eye on our blog, as we will continue to publish information, stories and photos there on a regular basis. Watch for the next issue of the Jaltemba Bay Life Newsletter, which should arrive in your Inbox on March 6th just in time for your morning coffee.

Saludos!

Even on a Saturday morning, there were two cement trucks, at least five backhoes and a crew of a dozen or more people steadily working on the new malecon in La Peita... not to mention a handful of curious spectators. Rob J.E.E.P.
On one of my first trips to Mexico in the early 1980s, I was quite shocked to see the condition of some of the street animals. This prompted me to get involved with our local spay and neuter clinics for dogs and cats, through Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue (JBAR). I guess it was only a matter of time for this concern...  Read More
