January 2, 2013
happy new year / feliz aņo nuevo
Happy New Year everyone! New Year's tends to have people make resolutions, and I am no different. Along with the the garden variety ones of "eat healthier and get more exercise" I find myself missing the smell of flowers -- both literally and figuratively. So, I have resolved to slow down on the frantic path I somehow managed to get myself onto and to smell the flowers along it instead. Lots of them. I plan to continue submitting stories and photos to Jaltemba Bay Life but from my own desk, not from behind the editorial one anymore. It has been interesting to say the least, and I have gained much knowledge into the busy and stressful world of digital publishing. Thank you Allyson for catching me so many times when I tripped and fell while running along that path!

Tosia Polomski-Archer

Welcome to all 1,500 newsletter subscribers!

As we start the new year, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for reading, using and supporting our website, blog, forum and newsletter during the past year.... and a special thank you goes to each one of the local businesses that make our website possible through their advertising dollars. We also want to congratulate the hotels, rentals, restaurants, businesses and real estate listings that received the most views and recommendations in 2012. To read who topped our charts and to learn more about what happened this year, you can read our article entitled "2012 Was a Busy Year for Our Readers & Advertisers" below.

As Tosia mentioned above, the new year often brings change. And while I am sad about Tosia leaving our team, I totally understand and support her decision. I have thoroughly enjoyed her insight and creative point of view, and I know our readers have as well. During the last two years, writing, editing and producing the weekly Jaltemba Bay Life newsletter has grown from a part-time job into nearly a full-time job for two people with an incredibly demanding schedule due to the ever-growing stories, local news, events and community information we receive. With Tosia leaving, I have decided to make a few changes of my own. I am going to pare down the newsletter a little bit so that David and I can enjoy our lives here in sunny Mexico. You likely won't notice a big change, except that you might receive your copy a day earlier or later than usual. This is Mexico after all... and we, too, want to enjoy a little more of it, spend time with our friends and family, and maybe even play in the sand and surf once in a while!

To help plan your upcoming trip or your day in the bay, don't forget to check the current weather conditions on the Official Jaltemba Bay Weather Page.

To find out what's happening this week, read through the information below and take a peek at our online Community Calendar.

Be sure to watch for the next issue, which should arrive in your Inbox on January 9th, just in time for your morning coffee.

Saludos!

Things You've Always Wanted to Do!
by Allyson Williams
AW POTW Things wanted to do
The other day, five of us drove to San Pancho for a late lunch. After lunch, we casually walked along main street to do a little window shopping. Along the way, we couldn't help but notice a street sign that read, "You know all those things you've always wanted to do? You should go do them."  Read More
