 Restoring Urgency, Renewing Commitments

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to share the line-up of our final two plenaries, one focused on the landscape of private funding for HIV/AIDS, and the other on adolescents and HIV. The former will also include the official launch of our annual resource tracking publication.  For a recap of all other sessions, please visit: www.fcaaids.org/2015Summit.

With the Summit just over two weeks away, we hope these excellent sessions will give you a tool to encourage attendance from your colleagues and partners.

See you in December!
Warm Regards,

PLENARY: THE LANDSCAPE OF PHILANTHROPIC FUNDING FOR HIV/AIDS
Tuesday 8 December
9:00 - 10:30 am ET

While FCAA has been analyzing the philanthropic response to HIV/AIDS for more than a decade, our prior efforts have offered only an aggregate, 50-thousand-foot view of the field. However, for FCAA to be an organization that truly helps to leverage and align philanthropic resources to address urgent and underfunded areas within the HIV/AIDS epidemic, we needed to unlock the data necessary to advocate where those areas exist.

This session will serve to explore FCAA's new resource tracking methodologies, and launch the results of our latest efforts: Philanthropic Support to Address HIV/AIDS in 2014. By sharing that data - and the potential of more to come - we hope to engage the audience in a conversation on how we can improve and utilize data to impact the global philanthropic response to HIV/AIDS and other key social justice issues.

Next, the session will move beyond the data to provide insight into two current funding initiatives: PEPFAR's DREAM Partnership and the San Diego HIV Funding Collaborative at the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation.

Moderator: Sarah Hamilton, FCAA. Speakers: Lauren Marks, Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Health Diplomacy; John L. Brown and Ian Morton, SDHDF.

PLENARY: AN URGENT PRIORITY FOR ACTION: ADOLESCENTS & HIV
Tuesday 8 December
3:15 - 4:45 pm ET

Our world is home to 1.2 billion adolescents (age 10-19), the largest number in history. Two million adolescents are living with HIV globally and every hour, 26 adolescents are newly infected with HIV. Adolescents are at the center of the HIV epidemic, but we are neglecting this generation, as evidenced by increasing rates of new infections, particularly among girls and adolescents from key populations, and increased AIDS-related deaths in this age group.

This session, convened by ViiV Healthcare and Keep a Child Alive , will explore how funders concerned about AIDS and adolescents can respond to the need for new collaborative and holistic approaches to engage and support adolescents across - and beyond - the HIV prevention to care continuum. We will present key evidence of what we know does and does not work for adolescents, showcase innovative programs and partnerships that are filling gaps and working with diverse adolescent populations, and discuss the role of funders in supporting increased resource allocation and radical action for adolescents.

Moderator: Amaya Gillespie, UNICEF. Speakers/Panelists: Jill Gay, What Works Association; Lorraine Anyango, Global Network of Young People Living with HIV; Tayla Colton, Keep a Child Alive; Leah Teklemariam, the Stephen Lewis Foundation; Sam Mayer, MAC AIDS Fund; Lorrie Fair, Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project.
