Exploration Tour

In October, our Executive Director, Sadie Trytten, attended a China Cultural Exploration Tour thanks to the support of Kemin Industries. Along with over 60 Des Moines area leaders and residents, the memorable nine-day journey to Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou offered a cost-effective opportunity to become familiar with some of the leading cities in China. They experienced many of China's Century old customs and history while witnessing first-hand the rapidly changing economy and expanding role in the global marketplace. Emerging Leader Group to
Unveil Logo: The LINK
The Chamber has created a new committee to support young professionals and business leaders alike. The LINK - Connecting Emerging Leaders will serve as a bridge between the Chamber and Junior Chamber International to provide members of both groups with enhanced opportunities in leadership, volunteering, development and networking.
The team of young professionals guiding and developing the LINK for 2014 are Jeremy Merrill (Lubinus Law Firm), Abbey Gilroy (Neighborhood Development Corporation), and Jennifer Bohac (City of Des Moines).

Corridor Initiative
The City of Des Moines is partnering with Friends of SW 9th, a coalition of 12 community organizations, to enhance the SW 9th Street Corridor. To be successful, the participation of residents, businesses, and property owners is needed. At the kickoff event, you will have an opportunity to provide input on the key issues along the corridor, hear about exciting development in the area, and meet fellow neighbors who care about the south side.
