President's Letter
Thank you to all businesses for your support in the East & South Des Moines Chamber!
Please join us on May 2nd for our Taste of the South Side. This is a way to have fun while sampling great food and raise money for our scholarship funds. The event will go on, rain or shine!
As we move into the month of May, be looking for a letter in the mail from me recapping our chamber merger and new identity unveiling that will be held on June 20th. It is truly a celebration and hope you can all come to see a glimpse of what our future has in store!
We appreciate your membership and hope to see you at events so you can let us know what your business has to celebrate!

Executive Director Update
As we head into May our membership committee is in full swing. We have a goal of 325 members in 2012, and we are currently at 275.
The membership committee is asking for your help to reach that goal. Think of the chamber when you are working with prospects, members, neighbors, friends. We hope that your experience with us is valuable enough that you can encourage other business owners to join the chamber to strengthen our membership and attendance while offering them opportunities to do the same with their business.
In the next 30-60 days, we will also be revamping our chamber website. Be looking for an electronic newsletter for updates on what to expect and how the change will help your business utilize the chamber benefits to the fullest!

East Side Beautification Projects
As reported in last month's newsletter, the Chamber has partnered with the Greater East Side Development on beautification projects. Due to weather on Earth Day, the Carver Elementary School project was postponed to Friday, May 3rd. On that day, we will be cleaning up the current flower beds from 9:30-2:30 and putting together planters at 3:30.
