SUBMIT YOUR COLLECTION AGENCY RENEWAL APPLICATION NOW!

You are receiving this notice because your company has failed to submit a Collection Agency Renewal application. If you fail to submit the application by December 17, 2015, the company
MUST CEASE CONDUCTING BUSINESS ON JANUARY 1, 2016 AND MUST APPLY FOR A NEW LICENSE.  If you apply after December 17, 2015, and the renewal application is not approved before December 31, 2015, the company must also cease collection activities in Maryland.  Once the license expires, Collection Agencies must apply for a new license because our statutes do not provide for a reinstatement period.

The renewal link can be found here. In order to renew, the company must provide the following documentation:
  • Bond Coverage
    • Licensees must provide a bond verification or continuation certificate dated after September 1, 2015, to establish that coverage is sufficient and in effect.

  • Certificate of Good Standing
    • Licensees formed under Maryland law must provide a Certificate of Good Standing issued by the Maryland Department of Assessment and Taxation that must be dated after September 1, 2015.
    • Licensees whose state of formation is not Maryland must provide a certificate of good standing issued by the state of formation, and a certificate of good standing issued by the Maryland Department of Assessment and Taxation, both of which must be dated after September 1, 2015.
The documentation may be emailed directly to Betty McBride, Non-Mortgage Licensing Supervisor, at [email protected]. Upon satisfaction of the renewal application requirements, the license will be renewed for a two-year term ending on December 31, 2017.

For more information, please contact Juan M. Sempertegui, Director of Licensing at (410) 230-6102 or via email at [email protected].
