As I write this, we continue to receive positive feedback from our Annual Meeting attendees, telling us how inspired they were to be part of our growing community. We thank those of you who attended, participated in the program, and served as donors. A highlight was honoring our 200+ volunteers, and presenting an award for Extraordinary Volunteer Service to Debbie Todd. This award will now be known as The Debbie Todd Award for Extraordinary Volunteer Service.
Thanks to you, it has been a most special year. After moving and settling in, we: maintained our momentum and continued to serve more women: handling 3700 contacts and serving - in the first 9 months of this year - almost 1800 individual women from all Cape towns; strengthened our Work Support Program, by adding Work Support Monthly; began a new collaboration with Harwich Ecumenical Council for Housing (HECH); increased the numbers of volunteers in all areas; and joined forces with 3 other non-profit partners (The CC Family Pantry; Lower Cape Outreach and the Community Development Partnership) for Making Ends Meet - a restaurant fund raiser.
All of you are critical to our past and will play a key role in our future. We will continue to count on your ongoing partnerships, volunteering, support, feedback, and generosity. We thank you for being part of our wonderful WE CAN Community and wish you and your loved ones a peaceful end to 2013 and a great start to 2014.

Pam Marsh & Andi Genser
|
With sincere gratitude,
Andi Genser
Executive Director
And, from Board President, Pam Marsh,
On behalf of the Board of WE CAN, I want to thank our staff and our entire community for all you do to keep our special organization moving forward.
Although WE CAN does so much for the Cape community, we know we are not serving all of the women who need our assistance. We have no shortage of ideas and dreams, and we count on your continuing support to keep our organization growing and to add capacity in order to meet the needs of more women and their families on Cape Cod.
As you plan your year-end giving, I hope you will keep WE CAN in mind and consider joining us as a Champion or with a one-time gift. However you choose to support us, and whatever your contribution amount, please know that we are grateful to you. Together, we are changing Cape Cod women's lives
every day.
Sincerely,

Pam Marsh
President Board of Directors

How WE CAN Helps
An Eastham caller ...
... had been struggling to find year-round sustainable work and in the meantime, had fallen behind on her mortgage. When she called us she had received a foreclosure letter from the bank. A staff member referred her to Community Action Committee of the Cape & Islands Homecorps Borrower Initiative Program. We also set her up with a WE CAN 1:1 work support appointment to focus on job search strategies. Later in the day, she called back to say "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! " She had spoken to the Community Action Committee, and they were going to help her.
Yesterday an Upper-Cape mom ...
...walked into WE CAN seeking resources for her daughter's relocation to Cape Cod after rehab for substance abuse. We directed her to Recovery without Walls and a few other resources on WE CAN's online resources page. We also discussed how her daughter may benefit from the many services WE CAN has available, provided her with WE CAN literature, and suggested that once her daughter settles on Cape she might want to contact us herself. This mom left feeling encouraged and hopeful.
A Mid-Cape woman called ...
... very upset because her neighbor was taking her to court. What started as a neighborly feud escalated, the neighbor assaulted her, and as a result, her neighbor was facing eviction. In retaliation, the neighbor pressed charges against her and she was facing criminal charges for something she did not do. With assistance from a WE CAN pro bono attorney, she was able to get all charges dismissed.

RPM Carpets (Route 137, East Harwich) has supported WE CAN in a wide range of ways. They serve as sponsors of our major event: A Day of Words, Wit, and Wisdom - in fact, they signed up as our first Walt Whitman sponsor for 2014! | Rick & Donna Morris of RPM Carpets |
Owners Rick and Donna Morris are known throughout the community as caring business people. Donna is a Board member of Cape & Islands United Way, and Rick is a new member of the WE CAN board. In our more than year-long involvement, they have repeatedly made significant raffle donations, donated work on our office flooring, and became WE CAN major donors. Donna recently shared, "I am proud to be able to participate in this unique organization where caring, talented women help other women achieve their best life. I am also proud of the caring men, like my husband, who help achieve this goal."
"We are indeed fortunate to have Rick and Donna Morris supporting WE CAN! Their commitment and dedication to the community and to our work is inspiring," remarked Andi Genser, WE CAN Executive Director.
All of us at WE CAN send our sincere thanks!
