    How WE CAN Helps
    _ . HOLDING HANDS

A quote from a program participant at last month's Annual Meeting, "I cannot thank you and all the WE CAN folks for what you have done and continue to do for me. I feel like I might just be coming back into the land of the living, and as a better person because of all of you!" concisely summarizes her How WE CAN Helps story.

Reflections on Our Second Annual Meeting
    WE CAN's Second Annual Meeeting - Nov. 29, 2012
WE CAN's Second Annual Meeting  November 29, 2012

Our Second Annual Meeting, Celebrating Community, was a tribute to all the community members, especially our volunteers, who make it possible to provide the services WE CAN has been able to increasingly provide. In light of this, here are some of their thoughts:
    • From the perspective of one of our event bartenders. " ... awesome positive energy in the room and a strong positive vibe ... The powerfully impressive Readers' Theatre presentation captured the essence of WE CAN ... This was a meeting even a non-fan of meetings, like me, thoroughly enjoyed." - John Townsend, community member & event volunteer
    • "I had the pleasure to attend my first WE CAN Annual Meeting dinner and the information conveyed was astounding to me. I was unaware of the great need here in our own communities. I was amazed with the tremendous number of women WE CAN has provided networking, support and services  to over the past year. After witnessing the dedicated volunteer force, committed staff and positive outcomes from this great organization I am committed to continue my volunteer services and support of WE CAN." - Karin Lopriore, new 2012 WE CAN Team Last Gasp member
    • "WE CAN's Annual Meeting showed me just how committed and caring our community really is. The excitement and enjoyment exhibited by the guests who packed the West Dennis Yacht Club spoke for themselves." - Karen-Anne Kazer

Many thanks to all who made the event happen and to our entire WE CAN Community.

    Volunteer Appreciation: Dina Lyons
    Dina Lyons

If you attended our "Celebrating Community" annual meeting, you were fortunate enough to see Dina Lyons' graphic design work. She has been a delight to work with as she designed and published our Annual Report and our annual meeting program. Dina's creativity was inspiring, as she fully understood all that we stand for while also displaying the content of the report artistically and articulately.

Dina comments on her volunteering here at WE CAN by saying, "Over the past three years, I have watched many colleagues from ABWA Cape Cod become 'transformed' as they worked with WE CAN (as clients, mentors, Last Gaspers, or through other types of partnerships). The animation in their voices, the glow in their eyes and faces ... it was beyond anything I had ever seen before, and so I knew WE CAN had to be a very special organization."

    2012 Annual Report Cover
Click above & the Annual Report will download; it takes a while, though.

Dina continued to explain her feelings about volunteering for WE CAN: "After Teri Cavanagh and Heather Jackson asked me to work with WE CAN - to design this year's Annual Report - I came to realize that's where the animation and the love came from: from doing something you're passionate about, for something you have a passion for. A lot of people came up to me afterwards to say thank you for this 'gift,' but the gift is really for me, and it is truly priceless. Thank you for this opportunity.  I hope it helps WE CAN achieve your goals this coming year."

Many, many thanks to Dina; you can read the annual report by clicking here.

A Company that Cares: Cleangreen Cleangreen Cleaning crew

After all the construction in our soon-to-be new offices,
Cleangreen and a small army of volunteers embarked on a massive clean-up of both of the buildings at our new location: the office building and the conference / kitchen building.  Their work was meticulous and they left no corner uncleaned.

Seriously, it is now hard to believe the property was remodeled, unless of course, you saw it before.
    Cleangreen Jitka
    Jitka Borowick, Cleangreen owner

Cleangreen owner Jitka Borowick has taken leadership in many efforts that support WE CAN. She is co-organizer of team WE CAN for the Andrea Holden walk/run and also a sponsor of multiple WE CAN events.

A sincere thank-you to Cleangreen and their volunteer crew; you have definitely made a noticeable difference in our new office!
