Districts Approaching- Deadlines Start August 17

During late summer and fall, athletes will have the opportunity to participate at one of our ten district events. Along with the chance to play, practice, and visit with friends, athletes will have the opportunity to qualify for next summer's state finals.

The 2016 Districts qualify for the 2017 State Finals (athletes must PARTICIPATE in a district- all places advance). Some sports are "open", meaning participation in a district is not required. Please read below.

Deadlines are fast approaching. Please click the link below for dates and deadlines. Entry forms that are available have been posted online under each District tab. If you do not see your form, please allow more time for these to be posted.  Some districts will also be mailing these to past participants.  If you do not receive an entry form, you can download and print one from our website at http://tnseniorolympics.com/find-your-district.html

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What age group will I be in? What if my age changes from fall 2016 to summer 2017?
For the 2016 districts, age will be determined as of December 31, 2017.  For the 2017 state finals, age will be determined as of December 31, 2017.  This is to ensure that athletes are practicing and playing in the age group that they will be played in at the summer 2017 state finals.  For example, an individual who turns 50 on April 1, 2017 will play in the 50-54 division in the fall 2016 districts although he or she is 49 at the time.

Athletes must be 50 years old by December 31 of 2017 year to compete in the 2017 state finals.

Will all sports require qualification at a district?
No. We plan to keep the following sports "open": archery, cycling, the 5K and 10K road races, 5K race walk, racquetball, triple jump, pole vault, and the power walk. These sports do not require district participation. In addition, if your district does not offer a sport, is it considered open. This list is subject to change as our board will discuss this further at our retreat this fall.

In golf, district participants will get first chance to register before opening it up to other golfers. Our golf state finals will again be held at Heatherhurst Golf Club in Fairfield Glade. If numbers work to make financial sense for Heatherhurst, we plan to use two courses to reduce the overall number on each course and put golfers in 3- somes to speed up play. We realize there were too many on the course this past June.

I cannot make the date for my district. What can I do?
Please remember that you may participate in any one of the ten districts. If there is an extenuating circumstance such as injury, medical emergency, or other very unusual personal situation, please fill out a hardship form (found on our website) and return it by October 1, 2016. Our board of directors will review each one at our fall retreat. If it is approved, a district waiver will be required as well as a $30 processing fee to your district.

Can I qualify for the 2017 Nationals through a district?
No. The qualifying site for Tennessee was the 2016 State Finals held in June. Please visit www.nsga.com for a list of states who have qualifying Games this fall.
