SURVEY

A decision was made to use an online survey instead of placing a paper copy in your state finals materials.  In the past, less than 100 were typically returned.  In order to be more efficient with resources, this survey has been implemented.

If you prefer to mail answers and comments, please feel free to do so!  Mail to:  TN Senior Olympics, Po Box 681, Mount Juliet, TN  37121.

NATIONAL INFORMATION

Many of you qualified for the National Senior Games-Senior Olympics scheduled for next June, 2017 in Birmingham, AL. Congratulations! We are so proud of each and every one of you.
These questions have been asked frequently so we thought it would be beneficial to pass them on to all.

1)      If someone who has qualified decides not to go may I take their place?            Unfortunately, no. There is no administrative way for Nationals to keep track of who is not coming and then extend invitations to others.

2)  Now that the TN Senior Olympics State Finals are over, is there any other way to qualify for other sports for the 2017 National games?
Y
es.  You can compete in another state by the end of 2016 to attempt to qualify.  Please visit www.nsga.com and click on STATE GAMES for information regarding whether they are open to out of state participants, dates, etc.

3)      What if my age changes to a new age group by next summer (age calculated by 12/31/2017)?   You will be placed in that age group for Nationals.

4)      Can I participate in a doubles event that I did not qualify for?                               Please clarify the doubles rule.
Yes. As long as ONE partner qualified in the actual EVENT and the other partner in the SPORT.
For example, Mary and Betty have qualified for doubles Pickleball. Mary cannot go. Julie qualified in Pickleball singles (could be mixed as well) so Betty can pick up Julie as her new partner. This may NOT be used to play in singles (a doubles player who did not qualify in singles may not pick that sport up).

5)      Can I make changes to my team roster?
Yes.  After your rosters are submitted to Nationals the following changes can be made:         Basketball: 3                 Volleyball: 4         Softball:   5
Players must be on a roster at a State Games. They may be players from a team that did not qualify.
6)      What if the team changes cause the team age group to go up or down?
Nationals will place your team in that new age group. We had not been asked the question about pulling the age down before so clarified the answer with Nationals. For example, a team who qualified in the 75+ age division but needs to add a 70-year-old will be allowed. The team will play in the 70+ division.

7)      How does my team go about making changes?
IF your team knows of a qualified player to add to your roster, e-mail us by 8/1/2016 so that change can be added before rosters are sent to Nationals. We have also tried to work with teams who have an out-of-state player but the sport is not offered in their state. The change may not change the age group in which your team qualified (or our results will not match).
Once rosters have been sent to Nationals (early August 2016), please await instructions from their office. Changes will most likely not be accepted after the first of the year.

8)  When should I hear something from Nationals? If you have not received notification and registration information from the National Senior Games by January 1, 2017 please let us know. We will check into your qualification.
