Golf
The state finals golf championship has been set for Monday, June 13th and Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 at the Crag Course at Heatherhurst Golf Club in Fairfield Glade.

We are excited that we will be partnering with the Tennessee Golf Association, the City of Crossville, and Heatherhurst.

An absolutely beautiful course, the Crag is described as follows: " The Crag course is player-friendly with tee locations ranging from the most forward Green tees at 3,600 yards to the Blue tees at 6,200. Bentgrass tees and greens, wide fairways-great for short hitters, and strategically placed bunkers add to the fun. The 17th is the Crag's signature hole. The teeing areas sit on an overlook that will have you pausing to take in the view ".

The field will be capped at 156 players.
Golfers who participated in one of our fall districts will be given first chance to register. When registration opens in March, an e-mail will be sent to these golfers. Please register soon thereafter as it will be opened to all TGA golfers by April 1.

Additional State Finals Information

CYCLING
Cycling was inadvertently left off the schedule.  The 5K is Saturday, June 25th and the 20K will be Sunday, June 26th.

SOFTBALL
Softball players, we are gathering information and ideas concerning current and future tournaments. Please click the link below complete a survey.
SWIMMING
The National Senior Games Association (NSGA) has added two additional swimming events, the 200Y butterfly and the 400Y individual medley.   In the event that swimmers desire to qualify for these events, they have been added at the end of the day (Tuesday for the fly and Wednesday for the IM) to the state finals schedule. Reference the schedule in the link included above.

TRACK AND FIELD
Normally, Battle Ground Academy hosts our track and field meet. This summer the school has plans to resurface the track. We have secured another high school in Williamson County and are awaiting final confirmation before releasing this information.

PICKLEBALL
The schedule will remain the same as last year (doubles on Tuesday, mixed on Wednesday, and singles on Thursday). The board received requests from athletes in many other sports (including non racquet sports) to pick dates as not to conflict with their event. It is so popular that there is no way to place the event as not to conflict with other sports. Two high schools are being secured for the event and will be announced once final confirmation has been received.

NATIONALS
The National Senior Games- the Senior Olympics is scheduled for June 2- 15 in Birmingham, Alabama.   This year is a qualifying cycle for the 2017 event. Our state finals event in Williamson County serves as the qualifying site for Tennessee.   Our Tennessee athletes always have a great showing at Nationals. With the proximity of Birmingham, we are hopeful to come back as #1 in attendance and medals!
Top finalists from this summer's state finals in Williamson County will qualify for the event.  Please visit www.nsga.com for further information.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND ELIGIBILITY
  • Athletes who participated in a fall 2015 Tennessee Senior Olympics district event are eligible for the state finals.
  • Athletes may only enter those exact sports or events that were played at the district. However, please remember this rule passed by our board last year:
Athletes who participated in ONE event (i.e. singles, mixed, or doubles) within badminton, bowling, pickleball, table tennis, tennis (up to two events), and shuffleboard may sign up for all three events if interested. The board realizes that especially with doubles sports and a long time frame between district and state that it may be difficult to secure partners at the time of the district. With these sports being so popular and spanning more than one day at many districts the board is also aware that work commitments and other obligations may make it difficult to play all three events. Thus the flexibility written into the rule.
  • OPEN SPORTS at the state finals do not require district participation: Archery, Cycling (5K/20K), Power Walk, Racquetball,                             Road Races (5K/10K/5K Racewalk), Pole Vault, and Triple Jump as well as any sport not offered at your district.
  • NEW PARTICIPANTS RULE
  1. An athlete who has never participated at any level of the Tennessee Senior Olympics system but who desires to participate in the state finals will be granted:
2.  A one- time only exception from qualifying in district competition.

       3. This will require payment of all state finals fees plus a district
processing fee of $30 payable to the district.  Athlete must also complete the DISTRICT WAVIER FORM.  (see link below - instructions are included on the form)

This does not apply to the state finals open sports. An athlete may register directly for these sports.

  • HARDSHIP CASES
If an athlete missed his or her district competition for a valid reason (medical, family emergency etc) the board may grant an exception. Please fill out and return a hardship form:

PARTNER/TEAM FINDER TOOL UPDATE

The Partner/Team Finder has been a great tool for our athletes.  This feature allows athletes to go online and search for a team or a partner 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  You can also submit your name to be added to the list.

We recently updated the finder to include the current and previous year's needs only.  If you signed up prior to 2015, you will need to resubmit your entry.

Please visit http://tnseniorolympics.com/team-finder.html  for more details.

Look for Registration Information
When the entry form is e-mailed it will be accompanied by additional registration instructions. It will be different than this correspondence so please read.
