SENIOR ATHLETES SHINE AT

33rd ANNUAL TENNESSEE SENIOR OLYMPICS

 

         [Franklin], Tenn. - Hundreds of seniors came away with gold, silver and bronze medals for their outstanding athletic performance in the Tennessee Senior Olympics state finals, June 21-27 in Williamson County.  

 

          Winners took home medals in both individual and team events including basketball, volleyball, swimming, tennis and track and field. The oldest medal winner from this year's event was 100 year old Robert Jones, who took home gold medals in bowling, discus, javelin, shuffleboard, horseshoes, and basketball free throw.

 

         "More than 1,500 athletes competed in this year's games, and the state of Tennessee is sending more than 700 athletes to the national games in Cleveland this month. These senior athletes are an inspiration to us all and a reminder that anyone can live active and healthy lifestyle," said Kathryn Trimble, who manages BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee's sponsorship of the event.
