CHANGES for 2016-2017:

As the 2015-2016 school year comes to an end and we look towards the upcoming year and our tenth year anniversary as a school, we have some EXCITING things on the horizon. We have resolved to move forward with the new construction of the second phase of our building which will encompass the elementary classrooms, administration wing, PE/Drama changing rooms, additional student and staff restrooms, elementary music room, Title 1 tutoring room, special ed room, and two additional middle school/high school classrooms. We are working with Building Hope, GUHO corp, Erstad Architects, Banner Bank, and Idaho Housing and Finance Association to bring in 7 million in tax exempt bonds to build the new school addition!  This new phase will be completed and ready for occupancy by late July to early August 2017.

Below you will see the resignation of Mrs. Lair who has been a teacher and Vice Principal at VCS for the past five years. She has been a tremendous asset to the school and will be deeply missed as she moves to Oregon with her husband and children to start the next chapter of their lives.

Mrs. OldenKamp will continue in the role of K-12th grade Charter Administrator/Principal and Mr. Casey Boothby will join the administrative team as the K-12th grade Vice Principal.

Many of you have had the opportunity to meet Mr. Casey Boothby over the past few months as he has been at many school events and has been "in training" at the school the past few Wednesdays. In addition to the K-12th grade Vice principal, he will also be knee deep in robotics and STEMl! He has a secondary Biological sciences and Natural Sciences endorsement in addition to a K-12th grade Administrative Certification. He is moving to Vision Charter School from Vallivue Middle School and before that he was at Sage Valley Middle School. Mr. Casey Boothby was just voted teacher of the year at Vallivue Middle School. He took a team of middle school students to state in Vex Robotics and took home three out of five of the awards! He also just completed training in 3D printing and has taught science and STEM/Engineering for the past nine years. We are excited to welcome him to the school!

In addition, Mrs. Lucy Wafwa's resignation and notice of retirement is below. Her contribution to our students' lives and to our school is greatly appreciated and her daily presence at the school will be deeply missed. These are hard shoes to fill! We have just begun the search to find a distinguished master teacher who is committed to excellence, enrichment, acceleration, student success, and caring about every kid! If you have a recommendation of an amazing teacher who is highly qualified to teach Reading, Social Studies, and Pre-Algebra, please encourage them to send Mrs. OldenKamp a resume at
wendyoldenkamp@visioncsd.org.

Please feel free to contact Mrs. OldenKamp with any questions regarding staff additions or the building project.

Dear Parents,

It is with profound sadness and difficulty that I resign my position at Vision Charter School effective at the end of my 2015-2016 contract. The opportunity afforded my at Vision, and the confidence Wendy had in me is never far from my mind. I truly believed I would be here until I retired. This has been the single most fulfilling job I've ever experienced. The staff is the best group of people I may ever meet! J
Shane, my husband, was given an opportunity to work without traveling. We will be moving to the Aurora, OR area this summer. And, for the first time in 8 years, we will not have to manage family time around extended weeks of travel.  Although this would seem like an easy decision, the family I have here at Vision and the wonderful life we have built in Idaho made it difficult to just say, "let's go!"
I have written and rewritten this letter attempting to capture exactly what each person at Vision means to me and what being the Vice Principal has meant, but I am at a loss for the right words. The best I can say is a heartfelt and gratitude-filled "thank you". Vision will forever have a special place in my heart, and I look forward to staying in touch and watching the school continue to grow and blossom.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Regards and best wishes,

Mrs. Erin Lair

Dear Parents,

It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I write to tell you that I have resigned from my position as a teacher at Vision Charter School effective at the end of the school year due to medical issues. I wish it was otherwise but I am just unable to further commit myself physically to working. As many of you know, I have been struggling with my health for several years. Unfortunately, it has been getting significantly more pronounced the last two years. This was a very difficult decision for me as I have always enjoyed teaching and love Vision but I have no choice but to finally listen to my body.

I cannot thank you enough for the joy your children have given me over the past 9 years. Working with your children and at Vision Charter School has been an incredible experience and the most rewarding of my career. I have gained so much personally and professionally. Thank you the opportunity to teach your children and be part of your lives.

Thank you for the experience and opportunity of working at Vision. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it has made life rewarding in many ways for my family and I. We will always be grateful! I will still be around the school as a parent as my daughter doesn't graduate until 2018. I look forward to seeing you and your children at future school events.

Sincerely,

Lucy Wafwa
