STATE TESTING:

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Idaho is currently administering the Idaho Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) in English language arts(ELA) and mathematics. Grades three through eighth and tenth will take this test at Vision Charter School starting on May 2nd through May 19th. Vision Charter School Administrators have worked with the teachers to develop a schedule which protects teaching and learning and meets the specific needs of each grade level. (Testing schedule below)

This testwas first administrated in 2015 and replaced the previous ISAT. Itmatches the content and skills outlined in the standards that guide instruction in the classroom and provide valuable information about student learning.

Results from these tests help to identifythe areas in each subject where a student needs additional support and where he or she has mastered the content and can be challenged to go deeper into the subject matter.

While no single test can give a complete picture of achievement, when ISAT assessment data is combined with classroom based formative assessments and teacher reports, it can provide important information about student progress.Teachers use formative and summative assessment data toguide their instruction and provide more personalized activities and learning opportunities for students. Students can work on the areas where they need improvement to ensure they are staying on track to be successful in the next grade level. In areas where students excel, teachers can provide appropriately challenging work to ensure they continue to be engaged and advance their knowledge. With this year's scores, you will be able to compare your child's performance to last year's and see the progress overtime. At Vision Charter School, we work with students to set and achieve target growth goals for their learning. We celebrate growth and work with students to help them monitor their progress towards their individual growth goals!

Both the Idaho State Department of Education and Vision Charter School are working to reduce the number of assessments students take at the state and district level to ensure that tests provide meaningful information for teachers, students, and parents.

As a K-12 College Prep Science and Art School, we are committed to student achievement and preparing them for college, career, and beyond. We are confident that with the quality instruction delivered by our dedicated educators and your support; our students can meet and exceed these expectations. We believe that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing well!

Please feel free to email Mrs. OldenKamp at wendyoldenkamp@visioncsd.org with any questions you may have about thetest.
