COLLEGE DAY is  WednesdayWednesday, November 11, 2015:
K-12th grade students are encouraged to wear their favorite college colors. College shirts, sweatshirts, sweat pants, jerseys, and college sports fan attire will be allowed for this day. College hats will be allowed; however, no hair dye or face paint. This day is a FREE Jeans day for all as long as they have on COLLEGE COLORS OR COLLEGE ATTIRE. Modesty rules apply! (NO LEGGINGS unless shorts or skirts are covering the legs to the top of the knee.)
TWIN DAY IS Thursday, November 12, 2015:
For a $1.00 donation, K-12th grade students are encouraged to choose a friend and dress as twins.  (Actual twins can feel free to choose someone else.)   Students may be creative, but all modesty rules still apply. Hats are allowed as part of their twin outfits. No face paint or colored hair will be allowed. Students who are not participating in Twins Day can also choose to treat it as a "Jeans Day" by donating $1.00. Any students not choosing to participate in either Twins Day or Jeans Day, may wear standard VCS dress code clothing.
CANNED FOOD DRIVE SCHOOL WIDE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT:
The 2015 VCS Canned Food Drive will take place from November 9-18. The Food Drive will be a campus wide, K- 12 effort. Elementary Classes (Grades K-5) are being asked to collect nonperishable food items. These must be manufacturer canned or boxed foods. We cannot accept any home canned, home baked, opened, or expired items. Each donated item will count as a point for the student's classroom. A party will be awarded to the K-2 grade class with the most points and the 3-5th grade class with the most points. Student Government is asking that each classroom teacher keep track of their class points. The VCS Middle School and High School Advisories will each be adopting a family and collecting donated items to complete special Thanksgiving Holiday Baskets.

COAT DRIVE:
Do you have any coats that you don't need anymore? Donate them! Winter will be here soon and there are many people in need. The Middleton Mayor's Youth Advisory Council will have collection boxes from now until Thanksgiving at the following places.  City Hall, Middleton Fire Station, Middleton High School, Middleton Middle School, Atlas School, Heights Elementary, Mill Creek Elementary, Purple Sage Elementary, and Vision Charter School. Please only donate clean, reusable coats.

EVERY DAY COUNTS CAMPAIGN! DRAWING ON NOVEMBER 10th !
All students attending school every single day from 9/3/2015 - 11/6/2015 will receive two tickets for a drawing for an IPAD MINI. Every student who attends every day but one from 9/3/2015-11/6/2015 will receive one ticket for a drawing for an IPAD MINI. Every student who misses one day or less during this period will receive a "FREE JEANS DAY PASS".
*** A Full day of attendance requires a student to receive a minimum of 4 ½ hours of instruction. (Not including passing periods or lunch recess time.)
The VCS High School Drama Troupe presents Game of Tiaras.
This satire takes the classic Disney Princesses and mixes them with the popular TV show, Game of Thrones.   It is a tale of what happens when the aging king of a magical kingdom decides to split his empire between his three daughters: Cinderella, Belle, and the Snow Queen (who in no way resembles a hugely-successful-recently-copyrighted-character).   Soon, terrible tragedy ensues - a terrible, hilarious tragedy. Combining the gut-wrenching plot twists of the popular television series, and the gut-wrenching despair of a Shakespearean tragedy, this adaption of King Lear will leave you dying of laughter. There will be two performances onSaturday, November 14th 2:00 and 7:00.

Tickets prices: $5 for individuals; $10 for families

IDAHO POWER ART CONTEST WINNERS:

** SCHOOL CLOSURES/ SNOW DAYS:
IN THE EVENT OF SCHOOL CLOSURE OR EMERGENCY CLOSURE: The most accurate updated information can be found on our Facebook page and our website at visioncharterschool.net. We will also send out updates via this newsletter. If you would like to receive our newsletters, you may sign up on our website.

You may also check updates on KTVB channel 7 and KBOI channel 2.

We will send school closure information through our automated emergency contact program. We will be sending a test of the emergency contact system on Tuesday mid-day. If you do not receive this notification, please email me at wendyoldenkamp@visioncsd.org so that we can get it remedied immediately.

We are aware that many families are traveling a long distance daily to get to VCS. In the event of snow and ice, we prefer that you and your family come late to school and be safe rather than rush to avoid a tardy and potentially encounter dangerous traffic situations. Attendance will still be taken at 8:10 a.m. daily; however, please notify the attendance clerk when signing in that the tardy was due to road conditions so that it may be taken into consideration when administration is reviewing attendance for possible reduction in grades. (Your child will still be responsible to make up missed work from any class per the attendance policy.)
